Why is my Non-dedicated server losing its data?

Just a heads up I am not the host of the server, but someone else is. I'm not sure why but when we leave for the night and come back our stuff is just gone. It says day 1 and it gives me my levels and characters and remembers the tools I had in my hotbar, but it just erases everything. No tames, no camp. We have tried the solution to reset it to a past save and it gets some of our stuff back from a few hours before we left, but there's nothing to be done about our characters. The host's has been wiped completely and they are forced to create a new one and use cheats to get levels back. I want to know how this can be fixed/prevented from happening again. It's super annoying and painful to constantly lose hours of progress and have to redo it.

The error is somewhere on the hosts end. Not saving the world before he shuts it down is what it sounds like.

Edit: Non-dedicated. Sorry. Nothing is being saved, so either he's erasing it, moving save files around wrong, or it's constantly getting corrupted.

how does he save it? If u mean exiting completely to main menu before closing the game completely, he failed to do that the first time this sort of thing happened. But the second time this happened, he made sure to do so. I'm really not sure whats wrong

I mean I bet it's the files, because he did try a thing in the files where he goes back to a past save point

Cheat saveworld will force a save.

Really sounds to me like he's deleting it before starting though. There will still be the backups that existed (The ones from several hours before the last one) but the last one will get overwritten with a fresh world.

alright so we just loaded in to test and apparently it's forcing me to create a character as well

I'm not sure what's wrong and we can't figure out how to fix the files or what's even wrong in them

Character data is a separate file from the map. In this case it seems like the whole folder went missing. I would highly suggest you host if possible.

Here's a summary of what's happening everyday. We reload the server to a past save once the server wipes the data. We force tame all of our stuff and cheat levels back in etc. Once we leave for the night and come back the next day, the server is at day 1. So the host then goes back to the save point and our characters are gone because of the host loading the past save in. Not sure what's happening

Also I can't host for some reason because of a firewall error

If there is no resolution to this, we'll just restart the server entirely and cheat in our stuff just to get to where we were before

To be honest, no one can really help you in this situation. The person who is hosting would have to come on here and ask for help because only they can give the info that is needed to figure it out.

We had the same thing too. We have an unofficial server for our cluster maps and when we transferred from Genesis to Extinction our S+ base was basically all gone but a few triangle ceilings remained. All the tames were just floating. We restored a previous backup for Extinction and then all of our characters inventories were wiped, including very good imprinted tames in soulballs, tek armor, and weapons, everything. But it still showed the faded images in the toolbar of our items. Seems like everyone is beyond frustrated with the recent patches, including us. Any ideas about how to fix this?
