Most of us are all too familiar with the "Chinese Invasions" that have been pushing players off official servers ever since they opened up the cross ark transfer ability once again. There are all kinds of good arguments about why this is intentional and a deliberate way to get the game to release and avoid keeping the promise of NOT wiping officials, but that's another thread. This is about the real hate and racism that the game is currently creating. This wasn't overtly intentional, but to ignore whats happening socially on their servers is also a bit reckless and irresponsible.

I'm hearing all sorts of new racial slurs that I've never heard about Asians, and kids are learning to hate based on their expereinces in the game. Adults (some) may be able to separate game from reality, but we know that not everyone, especially the younger, more impressionable folks, have the same ability to do so.

I talked to a kid who was crying about their Jerboa and other dinos that some chinese players killed. He was inconsoleable, and I get it. We know its just a game, but he loved that damn thing, and now the most likely end for any dinosaur on any official is death by chinese. The kid now acutally hates chinese people, not just players in game. This kid's hate was real and disturbing.

And it's not just kids, folks with pre-existing prejudices are having their racism justified and emboldened. The issue with such an immersive, time-sink oriented game (taming, breeding, building) is that players have a real investment (their time) in the game, and now the game provides a platform for other players to get rich streaming their destruction of others' time.

We players of the game during its alpha stage, despite our purchase AND helping the devs develop the game, are no longer the concern of Wildcard. Their sights are on the next wave of customers, and that's fine, just try do so without blatantly making every officlal server a school of anti-asian sentiment.

I don't know about Xenophobic... but I remember that I was really nervous about joining an official server because I heard how hateful some survival games get with a "Kill on site" problem... but then my very first day A guy with a carno found me, went away came back with a wyvern and gave me all this good gear and a saddle so I could get better at the game, and I was really happy. Ark wasn't like what I heard survival games were, people could co exsist hapily and not everyone was out to kill you... but then the trancefer thing happened, and a guy with a carno from the same tribe as the one who helped me, killed me... i can't say if it was the same guy or not, but I can only assume my base was wiped off the map, as my character was secured in my little shack and I could no longer respawn there... I'm not Xenophobic... but now I don't think I want anything to do with servers... since the little guys like me are constantly getting squashed... I'm sure wild card didn't mean for this to happen... but now I feel like theres a target on my back if I even try to spawn on that server again... I joined ark multiplayer because I heard it was diffrent... I liked how it was before...

You are TRYING to find racism in a thread where most people have been quite professional and removed from it. Stereotypes are not always racism, they exist because a large enough percent of a group acts a certain way. Acknowledging that does not make one a racist.

Agreed. SJW`s feel the need to find something wrong in the most innocent of situations to cover up their own misguided feelings about who they are and how they preceive the world. Asian takeover? What if they are wiping servers? Asians is just a word...Like Europeans. If a russian tribe was doing it, and people wanted to know where they were from, why not say Russia? The borders may be invisible, but they are there.

People seem to put weight on words that just arent there. If a guild in another game wiped and took over servers, i would say their Tribe name, why wouldnt i?

One thing to remember.. Hate is not limited to Asians... It goes on for ALL races, creeds, colors, and the miriad of social differences human kind is capable of being as well as creating..

In ANY case... It is bad news because all too often the young and impressionable as well as the socially limited who have a preset mind against a particular race, creed, or other quality or life's choice tend to use ANY reason to bring their root experience of hate into the real world..

And.. Unfortunately this many times results in far more drastic and serious issues since some of these actions result in recreation of game world experiences including great bodily harm and yes. Death to someone REAL as if it was the game and the victim of gaming hate actions ends up turning the real world into a REAL problem. This is why online gaming needs so many rules.
Including rules that many won't like such as strick rules of punishment when players, no matter what their race, step over the line..

Why not have some servers locked to the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ IP they are located.
Well it would work for the OC ones i play on but apparently NA servers are now in Germany, GG.

yeah, NA servers in germany... cuz server lag wasn't a big enough issue, so they added 5000 miles of distance, and called it an upgrade.
my mind is still blown by that.
whatever Wildcard's $avings were for moving the servers to germany, it wasn't worth it.

I play on a british unofficial server (from NA), and even though the server is on a beast of a machine/connection (it applies updates in like 10 seconds, and never, ever stutters to save), I still find the trans-continental latency to be a mild annoyance. I can't imagine what that latency does on top of the lagging, state-saving, hamster wheels official servers run off of.
