How do mutations work?
So my Rex got a mutation, matrilineal (mother's side), and I didn't really notice any stat changes, or color changes. I don't really keep track of food and oxygen, could it have gotten a mutation through that? And do they always get color mutations? Or is it just either a stat or color mutation, or a chance to have both with one mutation? The only stat that was a little higher than I noticed was damage, but that must've came from the father's side, since the father has more damage than the mother, so then it wouldn't make sense to have matrilineal. Can someone explain to me how it works?

You can get the color mutation and/or a stat mutation (typically of +2 levels)

so does a color offer no benefit? is it just to make the creature look cooler? because i'm thinking it got a stat mutation into oxygen/food if possible.

From my experience, It can be either stat or color. I wish the devs gave us more insight on this and I was hoping for the family trees to show the parent's base stats, AND I'm still confused on why they have IDs.. ANYWAYS.

They can get Color or Stat Mutations.. They can get both. I bred for 6 hours straight yesterday Pteras, I got more color mutations than stat mutations but, I eventually got a mutation in Health, Stamina, Attack and Oxygen (Useless). Each time I bred the mutated baby with whatever was the best and I finally got a baby with all 4 mutations plus the color mutations it had gotten along the way.

The stats of the FIRST parents were roughly:

Health: 5,680 (Father) and 5,120 (Mother)
Stamina: 3,450 (Both)
Attack: 816% (Father) and 801 (Mother)

My LAST offspring ended up being these (BEFORE IMPRINTING):

Health: 6,110
Stamina: 4,110
Attack: 955.3%

Color wise the father was pure white and the mother had a black body with the majority of everything else being green.

I ended up getting tons of babies with a black body, red stripes and a white head piece. I ended up getting a fully black and silver baby roughly 4 times. A peppermint kind of baby, White body and red patterns and some of the others were hideous.

It did take a while to get a female with the father's stats in order to breed for mutations and luckily, they do pass on to the offspring. Out of 13 mutations on the mother's side I ended up getting 2 Stat Mutations and 11 Color Mutations.
Out of 13 on the Father's side it ended up being the same exact outcome.

This is all I know, hope this helps.

Yeah, I was surprised by that too but, I think I got two seperate mutations in Attack honestly and overlooked it.

did you also get a mutation in health? because it looks like the health was higher than both parents.

Yeah, I did. Health, Stamina, and Damage. I also got one in Oxygen but, of course Pteras can't swim. xP

sorry i missed that part when you said it :P. that must be a nice ptera though lol.

one last question though, does inbreeding affect stats? i don't really wanna test it, because my recent rex just got a higher level than my other male did, so i was thinking about breeding it with my high female, unless it affects stats of the baby.

No problem! It is! xP

It does not. I just kept inbreeding over and over and over again and I never got punished for doing so and the stats never decreased.

Hi, may be my english is too bad to understand, but... how can you find some ptera with wild stats + bonus TE that give you this :
Health: 5,680 (Father) and 5,120 (Mother)
Stamina: 3,450 (Both)
Attack: 816% (Father) and 801 (Mother)

?

it doesnt exist on unmodded server, and as the imprint bonus is never transmited, seems impossible to reach with breeding.

This is not an attack, I just want to understand where these stats come from ;) thanks for informations

Max wild dino level on my server is 600 meaning perfect tames will gain +299 or +300 Levels.

Do the color mutation only have 1 color? So far I have only seen blue, but heard of some getting red. I assume they can get any kinds of color but its random and rare?

nope, i've gotten a brown color, bright blue, and a regular red. though, i believe only one mutation per animal. could be wrong though.

You can sometimes get a speed mutation, which has not effect on a wild dino, other than to increase its level by 2.
