Need help building/buying a server for ark
My friends and i play ark and we used to play on a server run on one of my friends computers but he sold his pc. I've been running the server since then but it slows my computer down a lot so i'm now trying to build/buy something seperate from my pc to run the server on. I also dont want to pay regularly for a server. Any suggestions or links to things i could use would be very helpful. Thanks

Basically for a server you just need a decent processor, enough ram, and a ssd.

Decent PC with out a dedicated Graphics card is good enough. Its mostly the CPU and adequate memory ( 32 GB ) you have to worry about as well as fast storage (SSD ).

You dont need a server like that. Just a regular computer.

It dosen't have enough ram. And it probably dosen't come with an OS installed.

Unless you have a server rack in your house, no.

Why not rent one from game host provider?

Ryzen 5 processor and 16 to 32 gb ram and a big ssd. Thats kinda cheap.

It probably easier to turn your current pc into a server and build a better gaming pc.

Yea honestly renting one should be pretty damn cheap

I rent my servers from https://arkservers.io/ been really happy with it

Renting a server really would be easier than building and running your own. You don't have to pay for the hardware or electricity, the hardware is probably more powerful than anything you could build yourself, the server can be available nearly 24/7, and you don't have to do any maintenance yourself.

Downside is, as you said, paying the rent. But server rents really aren't that bad either.

Answer is yes ... a few have done it ... windows 10 os using some hardware drivers from server os ... thou double the ram to its max of 8. The psu could be a limiting problem should you add a gpu (pcie2 8x) the 1030 via asus draws around 30watts. For a little more money Id get the 12 core with 64gb memory
