The weird part is that the taming progress bar never even shows up while it has food in it's inventory, This makes me think that I'm either not using the right food, or that there's some external requirement that they've added. This is my first time back to ark in about a year, so maybe someone has some insight.
Also, sometimes if another attempted to tranq it then gave up and then you come along to try the same OR you tranq and chase it or stop for a long while then try to tranq it again, then it once knocked out can also bug out and not eat.
In some of the above cases, if you leave render distance for a while then come back it either will start eating or have already been eating(if and only if no one else is also in render distance). Typically though it doesnt work and you just have to kill off the dino as its bugged and will typically cause the same issues for others.
Here's an early pic of the second one down and roughly 300 food below its max, But I waited until it was all the way down to 200 before I gave up. They should eat around every 50 food right? Depending on what you're using?
The tapejara did actually say "tameable by [Golden Knights]" which is my tribe name, so I don't think someone made a previous attempt. I didn't try going out of rendering distance for each of them though. So sounds like it's just a bug?
Btw I knocked it out on the spot with a bola and crossbow with tranqs, so it was never out of rendering range for me.
You misunderstand. Once you notice its not eating, leave rendering distance for a while(if and only if no one else is in rendering distance). If the subzone goes into stasis because no one is in it then return, it some times resets/triggers for them to eat.
Also, your current tame status would not reflect the previous attempts by others.
All in all, yes Its very much a bug that has been around for a long time and rears its ugly head every once in a while for some. Also as I said just some wont tame up and no matter if its a virgin tame attempt or otherwise and just have to be killed off due to being corrupted in some fashion(ie bugged).
