Private Dedicated Server - Transfer Between Maps

Hi guys,

Would REALLY appreciate some assistance as I can never find clear simple details online or anything.

So a friend & I have a private Nitrado server that's PVP on Ragnarok. I have Abberation etc and would love to start bringing dinos from other maps into our main one (Nitrado). I understand how to upload dinos but not items.

Basically I have a dedicated server, my own 3 personal computers at my disposal, I'm on Ragnarok PVP Private dedicated server and want to start going between maps for different dinos.

Can someone please advise what I need to do so I can and how.

So I have a Nitrado dedicated server. I also have a spare machine (or two) that I could fire up in the evenings/weekends for my friends and I to use as another dedicated server for the two of us and put another map on that.

What I'm struggling with is...would that work? I am aware you can only do PVP to PVP and if you're on a dedicated server you can only transfer to dedicated servers. Just not sure technically how it all works, getting onto another map and coming back with items and dinos.

For a true isolated cluster the 2nd server would have to be on nitrado.

You could simply allow transfers with no restrictions. But people could cheat stuff in SP and bring it to your server.

Ah ok, so this is a private dedicated Nitrado server for me and my mate. So not worried about random people.

Are you saying I could on SP go to Abberration, upload some tamed dinos and go to my Ragnorok character and download them? Same character, items and dinos?

Yes. From SP to your dedicated server, if you apply the correct setting.

If you want to play a 2nd map. You could swap them on your nitrado server. For like a weekend adventure.

1. Backup save files (ftp to local computer)
2. Upload character/dinos/items at obelisk.
3. Shutdown server. Install new map (you should be able to leave settings and mods) and start a fresh map save.
4. Start server. Load client and download character. Play however long you want.
5. Repeat steps when you want to switch back to original map.

I use filezilla as my ftp client.

Just to confirm though, as I am the only one out of the 2 of us that has Aberration. If I just play locally on my computer as SP, I can then transfer to my dedicated server on Nitrado? As long as I have particular settings correct?

My friend doesn't have Aberration yet so to change over the dedicated Nitrado map just for me is perhaps a bit excessive for now? What settings do I need to make sure I have on/off for SP to then move to my Nitrado?

I think the setting is called something like 'transfer from filtering'. There should be a checkbox for it, somewhere near the boxes for up/download settings.

So one last thing to clarify if you dont mind. I just start up my ARK when I get home, start a new SP game in Aberration and upload any dinos, items etc to an Obelisk/supply drop and I can find it in my dedicated server? I dont need to upload/download my character or anything?

Sounds right. Make sure the single player up/download settings are on. And pvp/pve is the same.

You might need to admin spawn a transmitter to upload stuff.

Not sure if you use mods, but simple spawner mod would easily let you get dlc stuff to your dedicated server.

That's amazing thank you! I will be trying that out tonight. We have a stack mod but wanted the rest of the game to be a 'work for it' longterm game. Just spawning stuff in didn't take our fancy. I want to start bringing tamed dinos from others maps though over the weekend for fun.

I'll give it a go tonight/this weekend. If I have any trouble I will let you know, but in the meantime thank you so much! Very excited

The simple spawner mod isnt just spawning stuff in.

You, as the admin, place down the spawner item in the game world and tell it what to do. Then just leave it alone. Go back to playing as normal.

Just to make it clear, unless I misunderstood, you cannot travel for your own home server to a Nitrado server.
