But yes checking wiki, its rag only when it comes to spawning in the wild.

That's really strange...
The griffin is ragnarock exclusive unless you have a mod running that adds them.
For Simple Spawners, it works by setting spawner objects and telling them to spawn certain creatures. I didn't set anything to spawn a griffin.
For Rare Sightings, I thought this might have created a griffin, but based on what I read it only takes existing creatures and *upgrades* them to a rare sighting and doesn't actually spawn in anything new.
I think that it could actually have been spawned by rare sightings because i know if you have some of the settings set it can spawn creatures from other maps. in my personal server (only me on it) i have gotten a rare sighting spawned ravager and mantis on the island. so i don't see why it couldn't spawn a griffin the same way.
2. If you have download enabled to the server, he easily could've tamed on another server and brought to yours.
3. The aforementioned mod
I don't remember what my Rare Sightings settings were at the time, but that's gotta be the only reasonable explanation. It's just that... you guys don't know my friend. It's completely out of character for him to make up some false story about how he got the griffin, especially when there isn't any reason to as I openly allow nearly anything in our game.
I appreciate you guys discussing this with me, hehe... thanks for helping me brainstorm.
