People don't really DDOS
People don't really DDOS on ARK. The truth is the game is poorly optimized and servers on officials have low-grade CPUs that can't handle all of the processes running. People can manipulate the game and crash servers without DDOS. This happens on officials and unofficials.

I think you need to play on dedicated server using non-toaster PC to get your issue solved.

I have google fiber, a top-tier workstation. I only disconnect from Ark servers if the servers crash. I don't have a problem. Shootergame.exe on servers have a problem. It counts resouces and inventories rather than cache properly. This exhaust the CPU, causing servers to become unstable and thus crash.

I've actually worked on projects to make dedicated servers exempt from these problems, but obviously wildcard hasn't gotten it together on the official servers. "scheduled maintenance" and "servers will be down to delete duper's bases" are reasons people can't connect to officials after a duper crashes the server using in-game mechanics.

I've always found it hard to believe that people pay to have game servers attacked but ive seen a few game studios say they have this problem with game servers. Rust is a good example. They have said that DDOS attacks are a problem.

Some one told me you can get a game server attack for $1 on the dark net which is so cheap its more than viable. But its seems like a big risk for a small bit of revenge/fun or whatever the reason is that people do it.

Unless you work for WC ... or Nitrado... or unless you ddos... this is merely an opinion... with pretty much nothing to back it up.

Or I run Dedicated servers and I know what Ark's limits are with my testings.

Actually my workstation servers are over 100X better than any Ark Nitrado server. The CPU is just so weak and it's spread out. The servers there are hosted on refurbished HDD also.

What are the specs on your workstation servers?
Weird that you refer to them as workstation. Usually that’s a term used for more data storage / office type systems and not a gaming server.
He do you know the specifics on Ark nitrado servers?

I know the Ark server spects because I follow their Twitter and SurviveTheArk website. Do you remember when Ark was running out of money and put their servers in Germany and people complained about high pings? My workstation to be fair is more of a computer, rather than a server so the raw power is much higher ( and it consumes more electricity.) My workstation has over 64GB RAM, a Titan V, and I'm still unable to use the Ark Dev Kit platform efficiently, because it's unotimized.

My servers are heavily modded.... they do crash..... they crash due to broken mods.... that is the Only time they crash.

Wich to me speaks about hardware and not optimization.

But back on topic.... if WC says a server is down due to ddos attack... who are we to say otherwise... unless you have inside information... that you can verify... then this is purely an opinion piece and nothing more.

It doesnt even serve a purpose?

Official servers can crash if someone turns on too many lights attached to a generator....that's not DDOS. That's bad optimization. Officials can crash if there's too much C4 blowing up at once, that's why wildcard reduced the number of c4 that can be attached. Rather than optimize the game they reduce the game mechanics. Their C++ Code is a little outdated.

What the hell does that have to do with anything? So your toaster is the same? You got exact same specs then? Because I play on a clustered server machine right now that is running 2 ark servers, a starbound and a Planet Zomboid at same time, I seen it crash one time in ark in over 2 weeks...

Issue is probally your mods or your stolen workstation was faulty maybe that is why you got a good deal on it or your boss let you take it home. And who the ♥♥♥♥ plays official in ark? That is like Buying a race car and settling into the first empty public lot you can find and never leaving. Serriously officials are cancer if you are complaining about officials on a game that 90% of players play unofficial you need to work on some things in life because you are a bit off.
Moonlight Feb 22, 2022 @ 11:03pm
in my region we don't have official servers so we are forced to play unofficial and it cause people to ddos other server because we don't have that much pop on ZA so we went from 15 servers to 2 server due to ddos attacks
