How to bring water to your base that's not near a beach?
I'm tired of having to go down to the beach for water, and would like a quick way of getting water, is there one?

Incredible work of engineering... zero moving parts!

add borewater kit mod if you can. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=730794403 . If you are using S+ for base plumbing, place the bore tap on an external pipe last and it will be nice and straight.

And do the pipes have to be connected to water for the tank to work?

.... that kinda goes without saying since you have to snap tanks to pipelines doesnt it?... eg: one crosspiece with 2 tanks will fill with water over time (they rely on rainfall)
Kisston Jul 24, 2018 @ 4:20pm
If this is for singleplayer and you have S+ put this at the bottom of your gameusersettings.ini

[StructuresPlus]
AllowIntakeToPlaceWithoutWater=true

For more S+ setting config changes go to the mod page

So, the tanks do not rely on having enough piping to go to a beach, which in my case is quite a ways away.

This is correct, they fill up when it rains. You could also take one trip down to the beach with a bunch of water skins/water jars/canteens, and use those to fill up the tanks.

Tanks work fine for gardens and drinking water but if you want an industrial cooker, then tanks don't work. (unless that was fixed when i wasn't paying attention).

If you have S+ do what Kisston said, the S+ intake gives water to anything anywhere and you can hide pipes connected to it.

AA Cauldren .... water anywhere any time... requires power :)

You can set up multiple tanks outside of your house so you'll always have a little for a sip now and then after it rains.

Lots of wineskins work to haul to your base but leak over time.
Water jars, and canteen's also work without leaking.
(canteen is a higher level engram)
