Best map for a beginner?
I have played the game before, and I have tons of hours in other survival games. I want a fresh start though with a pal of mine, what Map would be the best in your opinion(s)? I have Aberration, Extinction, and Scorched Earth DLCS. Any suggestions?

Agreed. Island is best for new players.

Okay will do, thanks :)

And I would encourage you to restrict yourself to only items originally included with that map. Subsequent additions that came with the DLC substantially change major aspects of the game.

Some notable examples include cryopods (item) gachas (creatures) ... cant think of any others.

I would actually just get used to cryopods tbh, major game changer, removing many things like needing to grow baby dino's inside certain caves.
They where after all intended as a QoL improvement, and are there for obtainable on any map without user changes (while gacha's and other specials are not without mods or going to said DLC map).

Gachas appear on my Island map unless I explicitly exclude them.

That is not normal (with the one exception of winter wonderland, though you cant tame those anyway ;) ), i would check your mods and or .ini settings.

I may have observed it during an event. I'll turn off the exclusion wipe dinos and confirm.

This can -only- occur with:

1. Xmas event settings.
2. Altered ini settings by you replacing other spawns.
3. Use of modded content.
4. Admin commands spawning in gacha manualy.
5. Gachas(tamed) brought in from another server.

One of these is why you see them. By default, the Island map does -not- have natural spawns of gacha.

No Gachas seen after wipe and with spawning of them on. Musta been an event when I spotted them, before I learned of the no holidays command.

Yeah i expected as much, usually people tend to recall if they added .ini lines or mods to make things like that happen ;-)
