what they should do is have ini settings for non official to enable the dinos to be as they were designed .
"Hey guys, look at these awesome dinos you can have if you buy our DLC"
"Haha, just a prank bro, we're gonna nerf the heck out of it."
The thing with nerfs are, if you never played with it before the nerf, then it is normal to you. But everyone that got a chance to experiment pre-nerf, well, there are always going to be someone's feelings that get hurt. Many want the Mana back to what it was pre-nerf, some want it back to what it was pre-pre-nerf.....
For PvE base defense, just setup heavies and fill them with bullets, set it to wild only, on Genesis, Tek turrets are easier to fill and maintain.
lets take the velo as an example : thing was beast , now a glorified thorny dragon :(
I understand they cater to the PvP crowd as they are the most vocal, but why do they have to cripple the game for the rest of us? We have PvP and PvE settings for a reason!
Most of the annoying things in this game are because they are trying to balance the game for PvP which is a lost cause anyway, with no concern for the majority of players.
Joining a 50 player alpha tribe is NOT how most people play this game. I wish they would stop forgetting the rest of us don't exist.
As long as they don't consume ambergris for shoots, or they make it unable to damage anything over wood but make the shots free, they are broken in my point of view.
Bases are made with effort. Breaking in for free is just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Breaking into buildings isn't a thing in PvE and isn't a huge problem for those with more organized PvP either. It also drains their food stupid fast, because of course it does.
So yes its a nerf for everybody who doesn't play on officials, which is the bulk of the player base. Small tweaks are one thing, but Wildcard tends to take things from amazing to why bother using this in one fell swoop.
Then reduce it's bulk, limit the number per tribe, make it weak to projectiles, reduce structure damage. There are other ways of dealing with things that don't ruin a creatures usefulness.
How hard is it to load up 50-100 ingots
Also you can fill their hunger easily by forcefeeding a few pieces of stone, which it can gather as well.
This nerf is a non issue when it comes to gameplay, but does provide a cost to trying to get into bases in pvp
You can kill other Magmas and even Rock Golems in seconds, the moment you can transfer Magmas out of Genesis you can easily kill Gigas and Titans with them, etc.
If you want to kill everything with a few clicks without any risk or work you can also use cheats or alter your server rate, but again even in PVE the Magma was way to strong the way it was first.
It's the same as any other nerf. "Screw everyone else's game play, I want my over powered creatures because otherwise I suck at the game."
This.
Also, It gets weight reduction on both metal ingots *and* raw metal (75% reduction) and I find that I dont even need to forcefeed, it eats stone fast enough to not run out of food while smelting. And it has a big enough bite/swipe hitbox that I cant help but collect stupid amounts of stone with it, so I am often throwing away stone. And it is obscenely good at gathering obsidian.
It basically completely replaces the Anky (thank heavens something finally does) and is vastly faster with its base speed, so the fact that you can't carry it with an Argy is moot. (plus you aren't vulnerable to anything at all while gathering metal, unlike the Anky)
So it eats one ingot per shot, big deal. Bring a small bit of ingots to start with, like 20, and smack some rocks and turn on smelting and you would have to be taking apart someone's base to need more than that. It gets pretty significant amounts of metal from regular rocks too, easily enough to make more ingots for shooting wild dinos. And the stone byproduct feeds the dino while smelting and maintains a nice synergy. Plus all its other abilities still work and cost nothing, like the AOE taunt and then catching everything around you on fire either through the passive effect of holding a full right-click charge, or canceling out into the c attack to spew molten rocks all around you.
This nerf only affected PvP.
It is still crazy OP in PVE or Solo, and a ton of fun
