Good Early Transport Dino? (Currently Lvl25)
So I've decided to move my crusty thatch shack to a more sexy and suitable location on Ragnarok, but I need a decent dino to help carry all my junk. I tried a trike but he was assaulted by a megalosaurus and died in the process. :(

Any good transport dinos for early level? I would prefer something that can carry a lot of weight, but also has good movement speed as well. And maybe can put up a fight against other dinos? Although running away is perfectly acceptable too.

Also side question: Does anyone know any good base spots on Ragnarok? I'm currently in Vikings Bay.

A lot of your requirements kinda work against each other.

High level stego or trike are the go to for early level stuff.

Otherwise next step is argent's. Paracers.

Unless you are rocking a pack though you still want to avoid combat.

So maybe get a herd of them instead?

iguanadon, just level weight if you want to carry a lot too

Might have to the stego a try then. Paracer sounds like a great idea, but I haven't found any and the saddle is a little ways ahead of me.

Iquanadon sounds good too. Wouldn't mind holding out a few levels for the saddle since I'm only 4 levels away. Hard part seems to be finding one. There seems to be almost no dinos in the Viking Bay area I'm camped in.

Yeh paracer is the next step.

But yeh if you encounter a high enough level predator like an allo or red it'll likely still wreck you. So avoid or bring backup
Seems your first question has already been answered, as for some good spots, you have a large island all the way in the north east corner with a lot of resources nearby and plenty of huge relatively flat outcroppings. I usually set up there, but you'll want to be building with at least stone and make sure you have several quick creatures to defend yourself with. Nothing huge spawns there, but a lot of annoying smaller things spawn there such as scorpions. 3-5 level 100+ raptors would be sufficient until you can get something more permanent set up. You will def want to invest in some plant species x turrets down the line. A few of those on some towers are a godsend to warding off wild creatures.

Awesome. Islands are always one of my favorite places to camp. Definitely will check that spot out. Thanks.

Stego as transport? lol. They are slow. Try for a Phiomia. Though to be save-ish I'd say try to get an Argent. Even low levels can get quite some weight and they fly, so easy to avoid groud predators. Iguanodon is a good choice too from what I heard. You can try for a Direbear or Megatherium next since you can tame them with honey. Though for the Direbear you need darts, and to gather honey you'll probably want a ptera for mobility. Bears are fast, have good weight and good damage. They are squishy so you need to be a bit carefull with alphas and big predators, and with packs of wolfes, unless you got a high level and had time to level it in HP. A bear can out-dps a lot in ark, but not necessarily out-tank too much, and since a lot of it's speed builds up over time it can not always disengage from a fight easily.

Alternatively ..... use starter base to aquire taming gear, ammo etc... to tame at new base... and leave the oldies where they are.

That's pretty much what I'm doing lol. Although I have collected a lot of stuff and goodies I want to bring with me to the new base. And sadly a lot of those goodies put me over weight so I want a dino to help me out and get me around faster without having to make multiple trips. If that makes sense

Probably going to stick with an iquanodon when I can find one. I've actually thought about bears already and decided they'll be a excellent mid game mount. Sadly I'm still in low levels (27) so I'm a ways off from the saddle

You can tame a rex and use him as a defender/some bonus weight on follow , taming rexes is super easy
