Ichthyornis Solution
I looked around, and I didn’t find many answers. I have a server with some friends, and we seem to be having trouble with Ichthyornis. Their hit box doesn’t seem to work right, and they are nearly impossible to kill, even with a shotgun. Not looking to rant or anything, but I was wondering if there is a work around or a way to turn them off? I do not wish to use mods at this time. If there is no solution, then it is what it is. Thanks for any input!

I don't know if off hand but you can use a line of code in the ini file to replace them. Just Google the process and there are tons of guides that will tell you.
1) Bolas usually hit them just fine and force them to the ground. While on the ground, it'll get hit normally, as it should be.
2) Use a large aoe attack. A buggy hitbox can't defend it from a rex bite.
3) Get turrets. The plant species X is a pretty early game, easy to maintain turret that uses fertilizer as amm and should have an easy time hitting the ichthy.
4) If none of that appeals to you, you can just remove them from the game by putting this into your game.ini
NPCReplacements=(FromClassName="Ichthyornis_Character_BP_C",ToClassName="")
After you add this line in, you have to use the command 'cheat destroywilddinos' to wipe all untamed creatures from the map. No more thieving birds will spawn again.

Even earlier ingame, tame some dilos and put them on turret mode or just plain aggressive and have them spit em down

These Ichthyornis bird are useless and should have never been added to the game and not only that they clearly over populate the maps. They anger me so much i stopped playing, they have wrecked game play is my opinion!

I don't know about useless. You can get Prime meat from a Dodo. You can tame Otters and Hesperonis very easy with them. Annoying, sure, so are Pegos, but not quit worthy. To each their own.

best way to just kill them is to use a bola. run away from them, then turn around, and wait for a straight shot with bola. Then easy kills

That's my usual strategy (or really just a crossbow), but on our server things seem slightly off. To be clear, I only ever have issues with them on our private server, and single player they are little to no issue. With that being said, I have a new strategy that seems to work well enough, for anyone else having problems with these fellas. The longneck rifle works well on then, provided you 1) predict where the hitbox will be, it's usually about a foot or two in front of the bird. 2) Practice precision aiming with the rifle.

As a final note, I use an argentavis to dispatch them as well. I hope this helps!

P.S Prime meat from a Dodo? How is that possible? I have one tamed, and that seems pretty useful.

I believe the setting is 'Attack and Retrieve'. It kills the dodo and brings it back to you, you harvest and get prime. You might be able to get prime fish meat that way as well. It has been a long time, I usually use them for Otter and Hesperonis taming. But early game, the prime meat from Dodo is helpful.

Ichthyornis is quite possible the most under valued tame in the game, as most people tend to straight up remove them out of frustration (>_<)
