2) Use a large aoe attack. A buggy hitbox can't defend it from a rex bite.
3) Get turrets. The plant species X is a pretty early game, easy to maintain turret that uses fertilizer as amm and should have an easy time hitting the ichthy.
4) If none of that appeals to you, you can just remove them from the game by putting this into your game.ini
NPCReplacements=(FromClassName="Ichthyornis_Character_BP_C",ToClassName="")
After you add this line in, you have to use the command 'cheat destroywilddinos' to wipe all untamed creatures from the map. No more thieving birds will spawn again.
These Ichthyornis bird are useless and should have never been added to the game and not only that they clearly over populate the maps. They anger me so much i stopped playing, they have wrecked game play is my opinion!
That's my usual strategy (or really just a crossbow), but on our server things seem slightly off. To be clear, I only ever have issues with them on our private server, and single player they are little to no issue. With that being said, I have a new strategy that seems to work well enough, for anyone else having problems with these fellas. The longneck rifle works well on then, provided you 1) predict where the hitbox will be, it's usually about a foot or two in front of the bird. 2) Practice precision aiming with the rifle.
As a final note, I use an argentavis to dispatch them as well. I hope this helps!
P.S Prime meat from a Dodo? How is that possible? I have one tamed, and that seems pretty useful.
