Genesis missions - Too hard?
I've really only attempted 2 missions (in the bog) so far and they have been surprisingly difficult.

1. The Bog race
Gamma wasn't too hard, but Beta is crazy. I must've ran it at least 10 times, and a single fail makes you lose the race. And considering how many dinos are set to wander in the path of the track, and how easily your Kapro model gets entangled in them and cant get out, and how the smallest bump can send you sailing off the path into the sunset .... and that's beta, i cant imagine doing that one on Alpha. Beta already feels like playing for mario-cart achievements vs the computer drivers. I haven't sworn that much at a video game since..... well, mario-cart.

2. "Cheaper by the Pack"

Yeah, I got killed the first time on gamma riding a Daeodon that i got pounced right off of it and insta-killed by the raptor brute. Lost everything i had on me and the daeodon. (Didnt know there was a non-X raptor that could pounce in Genesis.)

Knowing that I could get pounced by the "boss" of that mission, i came in with a level 180 or so x-paracer that I tamed, with an ascendant saddle and 13k health.(too high up to get pounced) fended off the raptor brute, but the mission kept going, had to fight another brute, paracer down to 20% health, mission still wasn't over, got to the end of the mission tracks and...... yeah, death. Gamma was shockingly hard. Additionally, the raptor brute had enough knockback+speed that he was literally juggling my Paracer through the air with sizable intervals of me not being able to attack back. Lost everything i had on me plus the paracer.

Seems weird to me that a random "gamma" mission needs a well-bred group of dinos to get through. Now I'm waiting to get my breeding program going so i can have throwaway dinos and bring in a whole pack of strong dinos cause I apparently have to treat this mission like a bossfight, even on Gamma.
(I was curious to know if the loot justified the difficulty, and when i re-ran it using admin commands to kill the brutes I was dismayed to find some low end gear and consumables. Like a poor-mans raptor claus gift loot)

I expect Alpha difficulty to be brutal, but gamma? (or beta for the race)

-------------
In a different thread i just found that tames that die in a mission get cryoed, but i wasn't noticing them among all my achievement skins i start with and dumped them.:steamsad: If my base wasnt so far away, i might have been able to reach the mission site to get my gear back, but i kept getting ganked by Kapros on the run back so ill have to treat the combat-oriented missions like artifact caves and setup a bed nearby.

I tried doing the alpha & beta race's of "The Rhino 500"....and I lost those pretty quickly as the time your given is very tight and leave almost no room for error

PS - The Bog REALLY makes me hate Kapros. They are freaking everywhere. So many deaths starting Genesis as a lvl 1 solo

Most of the race missions are timed improperly on pc (console versions have even a minute longer on some races) so those are impossible straight up, not just difficult. It needs to be fixed. The only race that's possible on alpha that I've seen so far was bottle nose (ichthy) and I managed to do the bloodstalker race on beta with literally 1 second to spare (felt good though)
I agree that Cheaper by the Pack was way more difficult than expected. The pouncing got me by surprise and my bloodstalker died before I knew it because the raptor hits very hard, even on gamma. I ended up beating that missions by using the bloodstalker grab ability (not pulling it all the way in, if you real mission dinos all the way in, they will break the grapple!) and then just shooting it while it couldn't hit me.

While the early genesis stuff makes you think *this is hard*

Doing these hunt mission makes you realise These are not made for starters, these are made for strong animals, preferably bred ones.

So far i have done Cheaper by the Pack, and Swamp Placid

The raptors got down with a mammoth, but at points it also pushed me up and cause me to float sometimes.

The croc just straight up pushed me so far away from the mission it resetted. twice.

As a side note, definatly pelt it with arrows or guns from a distance if you get the chance, you deal some nice damage and soften it up a bit at least before fighting.

well since the bog has plenty of water, it mean's there's loads of chances for the Spinosaurus to always have it's buff (of course there is still the downside of the spino being pretty frail)

Mammoths are pretty on par with spinos in terms of dps and health, and have good knockback to. But these Brute dinos suffer little knockback and have high speed for their species. They are Alpha's on steroids. So unless you have a very good saddle on that spino it won't fair much better, although it's regen while hydrated will make things easier

Heres how you win the bog race....(the one with the green hand icon)
step 1. get lots of run speed.(im at 160%)
step 2. carry tons of stim berrys( atleast 1.5k+)
step3. enjoy owning alpha for tons of loot.

i died(failed) probably 5 times between gamma and first time beating alpha combined.

carry bolas..theres just no outrunning a baryonix otherwise
carry some heal pots if you aren't good at dodging stuff
carry a pike and armor, best way to deal with kapros

I roam maps in a moving paracer fortress so i usually carry thousands of stimberrys.

There must be more than one race in the bog, the one i was talking about is NE corner of bog, you race riding a Kapro. Feels like the endor moon chase scene in Return of the Jedi. (you are fast, but turn terribly and if you hit something, it's all over.)

I agree, the races on PC feel way too tight on time. When I need a perfect race and a bit of luck to win beta, alpha is right out.

what do you mean? you have to use the dino thats provided by the mission to even go through the checkpoints so you cant just simply run… also theres 2 races on each biome. bog has the kapro race and bloodstalker race wich none of them need stimberries to complet it… you must be confusing about bog beatdown.

I am very angry. I was trying bog beatdown with a tribe member. Gamma went well, we were killing stuff and we won. We decided to test the beta and I end up dying, oh well. I'll get my stuff (My server uses the personal grave mod, never had a problem with it) I go and use it. I don't get my stuff back, I become worried and I teleport over to my friend, no beam, no body of mine with my stuff. He doesn't have anything of mine. I am very disappointed with how broken this DLC is. I was looking forward to it, and I was super excited. But now seeing how bugged, and ridiculous it is. I am angry because I had a 474 LVL magnasaur, and a 499 LVL rock elemental. The rock elemental gifted to me by my friend, and the Magna I raised and I lost them both. Other missions you die, you get to retrieve your stuff. In Bog beatdown "Oh too bad, you lost your stuff." Ridiculous. Wildcard needs to fix their game. I will never buy any other DLC until they are tested well enough, I understand there will always be bugs, but at least don't release a game that it's properly tested.

and yea the brute dinos are insane , did the gamma with 3 players ( 2 on spino , 1 on theri ) .
decided that wasnt bad so went to the beta , my spino lasted like 5 sec , theri died also , other spino ran away , lol .
