how to play on Mac os catalina?

Some guys online have it working but I just downloading and it doesnt work, will try restarting. One person who got it working said they downloaded the beta patches (dont know which ones) and then went back to standard (they said they had to download another 6gb patch again?) and it worked...just confused could use some guidance

A lot of the problems running these games (by these games, I mean games that steam say 'may not run' on Catalina) has to do with wrappers. Without getting into it, you can sometimes get lucky by running the application directly instead of through steams' UI.
1. Open a terminal
2. Navigate to `/Users/*YOURNAME*/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/ARK/ShooterGame.app/Contents/MacOS'
3. run ./ShooterGame

Loads right up for me. Note: I've only just come across this and have only tested with a locally hosted game.

I don't think the current version is even supported on OSX/linux. They've not released the patch for those systems yet.

I restarted and it worked just fine, singpleplayer is great, mp official loads up totally fine but when i click spawn on one of my existing survivors it boots me out of server saying connection exipred

Existing survivor on what type of sever?
Mods? After it disconnects wait at the main menu for the mods to finish downloading.

edit: ill try making a new survivor on official mp later and see if its diffrent but i doubt it

I did a bit of research and it seems that its probably macs defualt security settings of some kind interferring with the game. Ill post back if i find more or get a solution and they can just have this thing be default supported for os catalina so this isnt a pain in the butt to get started for no reason whatsoever

Hey !
I have the same problem, i'm with Catalina, and i'm now able to launch the game correctly thanks to a little manipulation.
But, when i try to join a server all uploads succeed, and at the time of the final upload to appear, I "lost connection"...

i havent found a solution yet, but from what ive seen online possibly when loading ark trying to run in various startup modes can help possibly

Is the error "Lost/timedout connection to host" ? I am running into this on Mojave on all servers (did not update due to the 64 bit issue).

it is easier to go to that path, right click and open with terminal. worked for me

some people have it work with servers right away, obviously not us, some people say that to launch the game in like "low memory" startup mode got them into mp, but i havent got it working for me
