Yes, they have higher health regeneration the higher in the water you are, and if you go too deep their health regeneration turns negative and they start to die.
If you want to go on extended deep sea voyages, you might need a different mount.

Yeah... Definitely need something else. That's disappointing.

They can handle it in short bursts, as long as you aren't fighting a lot and surface when they start to take more damage than you are comfortable with.

Or at least, they can handle it on the Island and everywhere I've taken one on Ragnarok. The ocean around the Island might not be as deep as on Genesis though, so they might take even more damage there.

The problem is that they're really the only viable deep sea mount now. Because of the stupid overpowered jellyfish, and the bizarre fact that giant squid can grab even a mosa any other tame will get stunlocked or grabbed and then killed. :( And no "just be aware" doesn't help when the jellyfish and eels apparently have spawn points intentionally hidden inside of rocks where you can't possibly see them until they go for you. The whales are the only pets that are immune to getting stunlocked by the eels and jellyfish or grabbed by the giant squid.

The annoying thing though is, my Basi is okay on Genesis... Then it suddenly dies. There is no loss of health, it just goes from full to dead.

I've heard that if you have infinitestats enabled, it just dies instantly when it would start taking damage from water depth.
Aside from infinitestats though, I don't think I've heard of a case where it happens the way that you're saying it does, and that'd be a new bug I think

That's not supposed to happen, unless they changed the mechanics. Or screwed up the data values that are supposed to cause them to take progressively more damage as they go deeper.

If it's on me would it affect the basi? >_> I was exploring and trying to mark nodes so I put on infinitestats just because I was lazy and didn't want to repair my scuba tank.

I guess it would.
In the future, it might be better to just go for the air bubbles as you see them, since they refill your oxygen and stamina. They also take you to the surface while dismounted, but I don't think they do if you're on a mount.

I'll keep that in mind. I'll test it out without infinitestats on and make sure it's not actually broken xD

Also, someone was saying if you press in air bubbles you can get silk?? bscuse me what? Is this true?

Uhh, I don't know about getting silk from air bubbles, but I certainly haven't tried...
I do know that you can get silk from the bush-looking plants in the water though.

There's apparently air filled chambers hidden under the ocean. Like giant Tek moon pools? You don't want to enter them on a water tame because most swimmers die almost instantly if they get trapped in air. But you can go inside on foot, and the plants can apparently be scythed for silk.

Except that's not what we're talking about. Using admin commands such as infinite stats or creative mode causes an accelerated death of a basil when in the deep depths. It is important to note that they do even on the island take damage in the depths and not just genesis but for some reason since genesis release there seems to be a bug that just makes it super fast for them to die and has nothing to do with the air pockets/chambers etc.

It's not what the original post was about. I was referring to the post directly above mine that mentioned "getting silk from air bubbles." I wasn't directly referring to the death problem at all beyond pointing out that driving a whale into a cube full of air is probably a bad idea.

Ohh, okay they meant silk inside the giant air chambers not the little bubbles. Man, I love the ocean biome it's so cool
