Bloodstalker Controls
Is there an easy way to ascend on the bloodstalker? I can dangle just fine, but I inevitably lose altitude and have to climb a tree or something. It seems like a big spider guy could reel in it's web, right?

Oh, that works super well! I guess I just hadn't tried that lol. Thanks!
Have you found any way to cancel their grapple attack btw? I feel like it's only a matter of time before an X-dino attacks me while I'm eating something and I can't run away because of it.

jump or "double jump" to cancel actual direction and aim for another one (if it range before landing)

I was asking for how to cancel the actual attack, where you reel in an enemy and start rapidly attacking it

Ctrl disconnects the web both in swing, and while grabbing dinos.

Also while swinging, at the optimal point of velocity if you press Space you will vault through the air and pick up speed.

That's good to know! I thought the only way to disconnect webs was to jump, so I'd end up with a web right under me on accident sometimes and just akwardly jump in place to get rid of it

Okay I'm on console but that makes button controls and combinations easy to test f you know movement sets but to translate it you'll have to use your knowledge so let me see if I can set up a decent way to put this up

(Using Xbox)
BASIC
A - 3 different types of a jump. (jump, double jump, and charged jump
X - creature inventory
B - inventory
Y - leave the creature

RT - 1st web (this is the first green circle unless one is already anchored)
LT - second web or double web (great for velocity)
LB - Nothing
RB - toggle 1st person and 3rd
RS CLICK - melee/cut webs

ADVANCED
A - Hold jump when rocketing towards a surface to latch on to it

LS - sprint and toggled climb ability (note when using the A button to do this it will automatically toggle itself off when you are righted with gravity)

HOLD RB WHEN IN AIR - Hover (hovers in a downward motion in a slow decent no drift great for going NOPE and turning 180 in mid-air

RT + LT - setting both of your webs without holding down the trigger will allow you to pull against them and slingshot yourself spiderman style. If you do this between 2 points you can actually hang in mid-air you can also leave your spider hanging ready to be called

RT will capture enemies this can be done when there is a purple circle and can be done when attached underneath a tree branch

HOLD RT - when looking towards the anchor point ascend when looking perpendicular to the anchor point it will swing you

PASSIVES

Tek helmet vision aka blood vision marks predators and prey and also shows allies and friendlies

Water skimming - can glide on the water it can swim but I've no idea how to make it swim yet despite there being an animation but the web of this spider and a dino leash makes auto fishing a great idea since you yourself can drag them up to the surface

UTILITY
Can bring out guns and gear, blood stalker will hold you forward and up at a higher elevation this works while climbing surfaces so you can web some sort of prey up and then tranq it by using a combination of abilities. and you can still walk while doing this. you can use a variety of items but it's basically anything that is a tool including but not limited to

axes
mining drills
cameras (for those scenic shots or some reconnaissance)
guns
binoculars
building mode
and much more its basically like you can play the game as a spider!!!

I should also mention that webbing is physics-based so have fun dragging poor critters back to base

FINAL THOUGHTS

spiders in nature think outside of the box so you should too!!! Study some spiders sometimes they are fascinating creatures!!! its honestly the reason I came up with all this!!! :)

Thanks for the info! On computer, you can stop skimming with X, but idk what that would transfer to on console.

I honestly just love how damn quick these giant mutant mosquito-spiders are with how you can easily fly from one point of the swamp to the other in just seconds

Yeah, now that I get how it works, my big ol' buddy is the best thing I've ever seen. It actually feels fairly smooth, and the controls aren't hard to understand. The taming is annoying though.

Awesome topic! I am on PC and the bloodstalker is a pain to use. I seem to only have left click to attach and hit space bar twice to swing and unhook.

What is that and how do you activate it? I tried building with a bloodstalker before and I just kept activating the web abilities whenever I left clicked to place a building

They're really really fun to play with, and simple enough to start to use, although the many abilities of it necessitate many controls, and the game doesn't really explain it so there's a bit of guesswork.
Even only knowing how to use it as much as I currently do though, it's incredibly fun and feels smooth to use. It feels more like an extension of the player character, rather than something else entirely like most tames.
If there was a way to access placed structures and place new structures without activating webs while riding the bloodstalker, I might never dismount...
