When is a good point to move on to a harder map? And what should I bring?
Just got back into the game recently in time for new DLC and I've been chilling on the island for awhile. Have a nice small fortress with a good group of dinos (Lvl130 Therizo, lvl120 anklyo, and some dire wolves and barrys to name a few) But I am now wondering what would be a good time to start moving to the more difficult maps like abberation and extinction?

What's some good things to bring with me to those maps like dinos, weapons, and such. What should I expect? I'm on single player just to clarify.

Do Island Boss fights first. It makes the other maps better while giving you another goal of grinding to craft Tek items. I would also suggest Ascending from the Island on at least Gamma to experience it and gain the opportunity for more levels. But you do not have to do any boss fights if you do not want to. You can always challenge yourself by going to other maps. A lot of people create new characters on different maps. I do not suggest doing that, since following lore, you do not leave the Island until you have beaten all the bosses and Ascend.

But if you are going to pack up and go to Aberration, just bring some decent tools and armor to start, at least until you have a decent protected base to store your Island tames.

best is to start fresh without importing other stuff, or bring your fav dino with you and roll on

also aberration restricts many dinos , especially therizino or rexes. I reccommend to go ABE and EXTI later. A proper way in the story.

ABE has one of the most amazing content progression in any of the DLC, and EXTI is a DLC to test your best mutated or not dinos.

So I would recommend to start fresh, naked but with level gained on Aberration, and bring all your best dinos you think would be usefull to Extinction ( perhaps even gear )

A good point to start considering other maps, is when you have access to all the kibble, that way you can move back and forth getting those "special" creatures on each map and setup a small outpost with harvesting dino's. The only exception on SP is aberration, as moving back is rather difficult so your going to have to progress that map quite a bit.

I would travel light, keep your main base on The Island, and explore what the other maps have to offer first. Maybe a good travel dino like a thylo or barry (since barry is rahter versatile as well), longneck and some darts and kibble for taming.

You can also opt to finish the entire story on the island (killing all the bosses on what ever difficulty you like), this is what i did, but its not required to move around the maps.
