Megalosaurus taming tips?
I'm in early game and I could use some tips on how to find and tame one later, as it's one of my goals. Can someone give me tips on how I can pull it off, if possible?

Since you dint mention a map, im going to consider your on the island.

You would need a cave mount, and i would suggest a barry for that.
Stock up on what ever you usualy bring into a cave, and add a bunch of narcotics, kibble and tranq darts to it.

Then head out to the Upper or Lower South cave, and farm those untill you find a megalosaurus worth taming. Shoot said megalo in the face (or butt what ever you like ><) with darts untill its knocked out, and proceed to tame it ><

Unless your on another map, that will be the most likely place you will find them, technically they can spawn in any cave that isnt the swamp, winter or underwater caves. It just seems the 2 i mentioned have a higher rate of them spawning.

Thank you! My Bary is my best dinosaur as we speak, I believe. I have reason to believe he killed a Spinosaurus while hunting by himself.

on any map aside from Aberration, these guys are nocturnal so they will wake up at night and try to kill you (plus they are a lot more dangerous at night) during the day however they are very sluggish and not nearly as strong.

As a mount...on any other map you'll only manage to make use out of them during the night (on Aberration however this isnt the case as they are not nocturnal on that map meaning they are fantastic there) as like I said before: they are weakened and are really sluggish during the day so they would rather spend the entire day sleeping

If on any map other than Aberration, Megalo is more for PvP at night, (my opinion, but i feel the sleepything during the day limits its usefulness).

On Aberration, make a simple taming pen.... 9 foundations in a square, 36 single doors, 4 small pillars, 9-36 ramps.
Place foundations within long range of tame, place doors three high and three across on each side, place ramps going from top of walls to the bottom of the side you want to pull from (use all 36 to cover all sides, need 1 pillar in the center of the last ramps to place the last row of ramps).
Shoot Tame from extreme range, run to top of ramp, make sure dino is angry and is running towards ramp, jump down, exit out any doorway.
Proceed to tranq and tame.
Bonus to this method is it offers some protection during the taming period, in dangerous areas i place some wood spikes after the tame is knocked.

Goodluck, this method works for most dinos (knockout) cept for Brontos.

edit: Use stone for Megalos btw, i use wood for beginner tames like Raptors, Ravagers, Trikes, Bears.

A bit excessive. I would just go the standard easy to carry pen of 9 foundations, 2 stone gateways with doors on the sides and the rest of the walls are 3 high doorframes with only one side needing 9 ramps and 2 pillars. Easier to put down and pickup and you can tame any dino in it up to like a giga.

Hmm whatever works in the end.

Also keep in mind, any KO'd Megalosaurs will instantly wake up when night time hits on any maps outside of aberration. If you calculate that Megalosaurs will wake up before being tamed, don't put food in it, just let it starve until it wakes up.

Be very careful when trying to KO Megalosaurs at night time, they are very fast and you won't have a lot of room to run around in the caves. If a megalosaur picks you up, it's over as they do fixed damage and armor won't mean anything to it.

Daytime Megalosaurs are still dangerous if you're not careful as they can still pick you up (but not your mounts, their pick up ability is severely limited during daytime) and do massive fixed damage to you. But they are a whole lot slower to the point where you can just shoot and run.

Update: I reached the central cave and nothing is spawning

im not sure if its like this for other people but on anything but official megalos fall through the world the moment they fall asleep so my single player and local host island have no megalos, they work on scorched and beyond but currently cannot tame one on the island

True. I did all the caves on the Island multiple times but I have never seen a megalosaurus.
Also nice necro.
