Could someone explain why Aberration failed?

What happen to make the ark break?
Ive looked all over for this bit of knowledge and havent found it anywhere so now I resort to this.
What happen to the original overseer of that ark?

Did you read the dosiers (explorer notes), in other words the Ark lore ?
I not much of a lore nerd myself, but i feel like your anwsers might be in those.

It's in the notes on Aberration.
Diana and Santiago's team, comprised of people who understood tek, created a really strong bomb and brought it up with them to potentially use on whoever was in charge and keeping them trapped on the Ark. Once they went to the Observation Deck and saw the Overseer start killing everyone, they triggered the bomb. The bomb decimated the entire control station, which can now be seen floating in Aberration's sky, which caused the shield to go down. Since there was no longer anything to protect the Ark's surface from the sun, it became incredibly hot and forced anything still alive to go underground (if it wasn't already underground.)
And thats basically it.

Also on this Ark....Rockwell effectively went insane and injected liquid element into his own body, this of course caused him to mutate into the abomination he is now and is control of Aberration after 2 survivor's we know from the notes banished him into the depth's of the Ark
