Also, spam those cloth hats :p its so easy to get mass amounts of fiber.
I saw something like that in a chest and it showed a book with images and writing to me but couldn't see a way to collect it
If you're on the Island map, you can do a Dossier/Explorer note run to rush to lv60-70 quickly, but personally i've found the earlier levels easier than later levels and its more lucritive to keep the explorer notes until later down the track.
Its "collected" simply by proximity to it. Once you open one, you get an experience buff icon for 6min or so. Crafting or killing really tough creatures etc allows you to get alot more exp fast.
Also if in a tribe working together in close proximity to each other, you gain exp from their activities. This is why when on new servers some tribes migrantly move around killing stuff in groups and crafting and chaining explorer notes(if said server's map has them) in order to level up into the 70's or higher in a very short order of time (on default exp settings).
Additionally, golden hesperonis eggs(little fishing birds) can be found dropped in the wild (or you can tame a hesp and set it to fish for one about ever 5 egg lays from normal). When consumed they can give you an exp bonus timer too(but smaller % bonus mind you). Egg also works on dinos if you force feed it to em.
This is the fastest way to level. There are videos on youtube that show you the optimal way to move around the map to maximise explorer notes in least amount of time.
Without notes, I always start with foundation and storage crafting (destroying as I place them for half mats) and then moving onto narcotics but this is very slow compared to explorer notes.
