Worth Purchasing if playing Solo

My question is fairly simple, in that I'm wondering if it is worth buying ARK if I will likely spend 90+ percent of my game time going solo. None of my friends play the game, and I doubt that they would be interested. Additionally, I tend to have trouble making online friends, or just randomly joining groups. I like the concept of the game, and it looks fun and well fleshed out, but I'm wary of playing if I'm just going to consistantly be killed and raided by groups. I understand and appreciate the competitive aspect of the game in pvp regards, but how viable is it to play solo when most everyone else is far more efficient and deadly in their large groups? I'm aware that it is possible to play the game in a private session, but removing the multiplayer element of the game seems like a big downgrade, even if I'll not be participating in the co-op portion of it.

Actually, I haven't bought it and just woke up. Based off the replies so far, I'm leaning towards buying, but will be using the last bit of the free weekend to make my final decision.

Like I said before, solo experience can be fun but also incredibly tedious, a small group of friends is the best way to go unless you want to sink 100's of hours into the PVP grind.

All my time, expect for like, four hours, probably less, has been spent in total singleplayer. It is worth it. You can use mods to your hearts content, mess around with the settings until you get the expirience you want, and you don't have to worry about offline raids or trolls or any of the sort. I have had it for two years now, played it alot, I mean ALOT. I haven't regretted my choice once.

It's 100% NOT worth buying to play solo unless your willing to purchase or rent a server, When you run single player, you also run a server at the same time which kills your games performance severely.

Hm, not in my expirience. In fact, running my own private unofficial server with no one on it actually makes it run smoother when I do it (which is rarely), so I don't know where this is coming from.
