Does anyone know what scrap metal is used for in Extinction?

I put the scrap in the forge but nothing happened, I'm assuming you need something else in there as well, just like making gas, but I don't know what else to put in with the scrap

nope, just scrap as if its raw metal, smelted up fine for me into scrap bars.

having the same issue i have over 400 scrap trying to make scrap bars so far its gone through what seems a stack of spark powered trying wood now ( no mods single player)

I had no issues smelthing it alongside regular metal in forge

there seems to be a bug. had the same problem. it worked again after I had build a new forge (post patch forge).

i believe that the scrap you collect/find is used to build the scouts, enforcers and the mechs and that you use the terminals found in the city
