ARK Corrupt Disk, undeletable files/ folders
After the Extinction update, ARK no longer works for me. I've tried everything I can think of (including many things that worked for others with the same issue in the past).

I'm getting a corrupt disk message about a skylight file. I uninstalled ARK and tried to reinstall it, still get the same message and it stops downloading. I've tried verifying the integrity of the files and repairing file folders through Steam and neither worked. I've tried deleting the files in the downloading folder and it won't allow me, even using programs FileAssassin and Unlocker. I even just tried deleting the Steam downloading folder itself and that won't work. At every turn I get a message about a corrupt disk, but only with the ARK folders, nothing else. I've tried working on it for hours and I'm frustrated. Please help.

I also get messages saying that those folders are "not accessible" depending on the program/ method used. Can't delete them, can't look in them, can't do anything with them. Infuriating.

I had a array size crash. Location 2 while the size was 2. Sounds like a dumb bug/error.
It came from a file from the new expansion while i was still on the island.

Download and use Linux live dvd and boot your pc with it.
Locate your ark files and remove them that way.
This is how i delete files if the path length has become too long for windows.

Could you perhaps give me a little more detail? Where to find that and how to use it?

My opinion goes to Ubuntu.
https://livecdlist.com/ubuntu/

If you have and want to use a usb stick instead of dvd google for Rufus.
This software helps you make bootable usb drives.

Once linux is placed with Rufus on a usb stick boot your pc with that stick.

If need more help on how to, let me know. This is not hard at all and takes 15-20 minuts of your time.

Booting into safe mode should allow the modification or deletion of those files on Windows, why boot ubunto just do to that?

other thing to do would be to verify the integrity of the HDD/SSD via check disk

With ubuntu u can do many stuff that looks impossible for windows.
Corrupted files, unreachable files/paths etc.. If windows trows a error, big chance ubuntu wont.

Which is the whole point of Safe Mode if something isnt accessible in Normal mode thats what safe mode is for.

Needing 1 OS to do something on a different OS, especially for people with no experience with such things is counter productive.

Whether it works or not isnt the point however, Safe Mode should be tried before attempting anything else.

google the "take ownership" registry add on take over th files u wanna delete failing that u can always just drivepart the drive remove the partition make a new format and check drive for errors then start again with any bad bits marked as unusable already

It seems to be mostly SteamCMD causing this, since I've had similar issues the past year or so when trying to update my servers, where apparently randomly certain mod directories became inaccessible, and had to be deleted to get things working again.

I'm going to guess you're using Windows 10, since I've never seen a 'corrupt disk' message in any Windows version I've ever used, so it might be something new.

Yes, I am using WIndows 10. I tried using Safe Mode, and was able to delete some of the files that I previously could not reach. However, even then, there were still some Ark files that were corrupt and unreadable.
