I assume they were replaced by Orbital Drops. I've done 3 already and even the low tier ones aren't hard (the biggest threat is a level 10 raptor) plus you get some decent stuff out of it (I've gotten 12 cryopods, a few pieces of Ghille Armor as well as some building stuff.)

Are the orbital drops based on character level or fixed difficulty?

also, there are still cave drops......found 2 in the ice cave

Fixed difficulty. There are a few tiers of drops and even when I was using my level 115 character the dinos that were coming after me on a blue drop were level 1-14.

I found an orange osd and it was way harder, got corrupted carnos 1st wave and was overwhelmed, can see this becoming a significant hassle for solo players.

Yeah it's blue, yellow, orange (or red), and then purple with Purple being legendary tier and the one that is the hardest. I had a few Velonasaur's tamed up for the Yellow drop and got hit by Paracers, Wyvern's, Gigas, and even an Enraged Triceratops. I assume I rolled really bad RNG since my last yellow only had a Carnotaur and Paracers as their biggest threat. I'm thinking of trying to find a regular Paracer and tame it and outfit it with some equipment to make it a bad ass turret machine.

There is also purple which is ridiculous. I had OP dinos and still lost it at the final round.

They are the hardest color of the orbital supply drops.

There drop is random, any place that normaly has a Orbital can have any of the difficulties .... atlteast that is my understanding of it.
