Couple of Questions about Chibis..?

I have never seen or heard of these things before so I have a couple of questions... After watching a vid I learned that as they level to max level 6 that the player also can gain +5 levels to their max level....

My questions are; 1, aside from getting you extra levels do they serve any other purpose..?
2, are the pets you get specific to each map, eg if I wanted a rock drake one
would I need to be on Aberration..?
3, are you able to fully level up more than 1..?, obviously the player will not
gain more than 5 levels I assume and providing you can find enough alphas.

They get you 5 more levels and they look cute.

So far it seems we can get any chibi on any map but I did read somewhere that you can't equip them if you don't own the related dlc. Don't know if that's true or not. I got a rock drake and gasbags on Valguero.

Yes, I have one fully leveled and a couple partway.
