A good CPU for an ARK Server.
Howdy, been searching for a good CPU on Intel. Found this guy and it seems okay. Would this be good to use?

Intel® Core™ i7-8086K Processor

If its for a small community it doesnt matter that much, I run on my spare pc with an old fx8300 and it uses 3-5% cpu

servers are 1 core really so any fast clock speed will do i use an old i7 3930 cpu with 48gb of ram and ssd it doesnt need gpu power as it just a dos box

unless you are trying to run the game and server on the same machine

I did a benchmark test on my rig, the SSD isnt above standards, and the ram isnt above standards and the CPU isnt either.

I have 32 GB of DDR3 corsair vengeance RAM, 1 TB Crucial MX500 SSD, and an i7 3770 CPU.
These need upgrading asap loooool

My Gaming PC which I play ARK on is WAY above standards, GTX 1070 GPU, 32 GB DDR4, 500 GB m.2 intel Series 6 SSD. Works a charm :) But my Server is years out of date

No need for an 8086k, it's not worth it over the 8700K.

An ark server doesn't use more than a core or two so an i3 8350k OC'ed to 5.0GHz would likely do as well as the 8600k@5.0GHz.

amd cpu all you need

I do recall that ARK only runs on 1 core. Thanks :) I will be needing to buy a few parts, like a much faster SSD, new Mobo, and Ram.

My main focuses at this stage I guess!

Should be nothing wrong with the mx500, I would try and find a 4790k and oc the hell out it and you wouldn't be too far off coffee lake performance.

Thanks mate. :)

Intel really has had no huge jump in single core perfomance, the differance from a 4790k OC'ed to a 8700k OC'ed is like 10-15%.

By the time you replace the 32gb DDR3 with DDR4 along with the CPU and motherboard I really don't think it's worth the 10-15%.

The reason why I am thinking of an upgrade is because my server fps is at a solid 30 with 1 player, then 8 - 10 are on, and it’s down to 5 - 10 fps constantly, which isn’t the type of stats you want to really get lol
