Also, some tricks to snapping include building another dummy ceiling off the one you want to snap to to get the wall to go to the correct side or orientation. Watch some YouTube videos for some tips of building in Ark. They really help.
I have tried keeping my finger on “Q” with limited success but these days on big builds I will always place the wall of subsequent levels first and then the floor as British Geezer posted earlier.
As someone that builds a lot I find it very annoying without a solid work around.

Selffliping parts in the last second, not avoidable in my few.
Walls first give the problem, it mostly cuts the door hight, so I'd prefer to build on the celling.
