Engram override help
Hi folks, I'm trying to get engram overrides to work. I'm following the guide I found on here (Briana's the author I think), and it just doesn't seem to be working.

I'm specifically trying to figure this out to use on a server, and with S+ engrams, but I'm trying with a base engram as well without luck.

In the link are screenshots that I took of which file I'm editing, as well as the directory it's in; what the contents look like (I'm trying to remove two S+ engrams and to change the level of the wood foundation to 0 and remove its pre-req - I've also tried making it level 1); and finally a screenshot of my engram list in-game (which was re-opened after I saved the game.ini changes).

Any recommendations on what I'm doing wrong?

Make sure your server is shut down before editing anything.

Make sure this

[/script/shootergame.shootergamemode]

is on its own at the very top of your game.ini
Including the square brackets at the start and end

Make your changes... Save the file... restart server.

And I know it's probably that my syntax is wrong or they're in the wrong place in the file - but I copied and pasted the one for the wood floor directly from the guide here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=602282568

what are you trying to do , hide it or lower the level ?

you can use this in your game ini to make it auto unlock :

EngramEntryAutoUnlocks=(EngramClassName="EngramEntry_Clay_C",LevelToAutoUnlock=5)

Right now, I'm just trying to get the engram override stuff to work at all, but nothing I'm putting in the INI file is actually working.

My eventual intent is to hide the admin/op-related stuff from S+ on a hosted server.

have you tried
OverrideNamedEngramEntries=(EngramClassName="EngramEntry_Dino_Aid_X_C",EngramHidden=True,EngramPointsCost=75,EngramLevelRequirement=150,RemoveEngramPreReq=False)

oh , none of it is working , how are you putting this in the ini , ftp or ?

Right now, I'm just doing this on my local computer for single player.

Yeah, that's where I'm putting it. I put a link to a screenshot up in the first post.

does it erase the new text ?

try making the game ini " read only " via right click / properties .
single player always acts wierd for me compaired to dedi server as far as ini settings .

One thing I noticed about ARK, is that if I make any changes to the .ini for Single Player, they don't actually save unless ARK is completely closed. If the ARK menu screen is up, it won't save the changes...

Sorry if I'm not making too much sense, really sleep deprived here.
Also, I did my own engram overrides for S+ and they worked for me. If you want to use any of it, you can find it here: https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/discussion/731604991/1733217528123638603/
I was just using the wiki as a reference for what to do.

Did you fix it?

I'm going to test out yours, Valkyrie, and see if they work. I'll let you know - thanks!

[Professor Farnsworth voice] Good news, everyone! Your engram overrides worked in my single player server, and I edited them to what I want and that's working in single player as well.

Not so great news, I've edited the Game.ini the server seems to be using with both yours and mine from my local, and it doesn't seem to work, so there must be some additional trick or they're reading from a different INI somehow.

Regardless, making progress. Thanks for the help all!

Bumping this. So I had the folks hosting my server look into this, and they directed me back here.

Does anyone have any further ideas? I'm literally copying and pasting a Game.ini that works in single-player over to the server's Game.ini, saving it, restarting the server (and verifying the Game.ini still shows my changes), but nothing changes...
