They cannot breed. They never could. Basilisk , titanboas and few other also lay eggs and cant breed.

Without mods, none of the bug-like creatures can be bred. They can only lay unfertilized eggs and that's all. (Scorpions, mantis, spiders, etc)

I would recommend a mod I use that changes that, but since you are on console, that isn't an option. :(
S+ Mutator allows them to breed i think

Thanks for replies, there's a list i saw on breedables and I'm sure they were in it but owel, looks like i'll be waiting a while dont want to tame alot of them.

I need for kibble.

You really shouldn't need them for kibble. Since the kibble overhaul earlier this year, there are plenty of (arguably better) options for Medium Egg[ark.gamepedia.com] sources for Regular Kibble.

What would you say is better? I have the lists all in tabs atm.

A video i watched said turtles but scorpions seem pretty easy and fast.

I also prefer smaller things.

Ive got dodo, ptera, scorpions then will probaly get argies and rexs.

I still need a oviraptor.

New system seems kind of scuffed tbh, you need to have a kibble farm of the thing you want to tame in the first place.

hard to argue that scorpions aren't the easiest medium egg maker. They are easy to knockout on foot, no need for any kind of taming trap, and can be tamed with spoiled meat. And their footprint for taking up floor space in your base is about as small for a medium egg maker as you can get.( Ichthyornis and Troodon are smaller, but a pain to tame)

I go with Ankys. While they don't have the smallest footprint, they are: easy to keep fed, beneficial for harvesting metal/flint/oil, and something you might want to consider breeding anyway to make their harvesting even more effective.

As Zor said, Ichthyornis are painful to tame; but once you have a pair breeding for more shouldn't be too difficult. My issue with them is they only eat fish, which means special handling so the rest of your carnivores don't tear through your fish supply.

Turtles are not bad either, just not quite as useful Anky with a similar footprint; but definitely worth considering if you're being a bit more water focused. Iguanodon might take up a little less space, but in my experience they are not quite as common or useful.

Most of the rest are too big, or too painful to work with.

The sounds scorps make also make me feel like I am playing a horror game. Not that I mind horror games; it just not what I play Ark for... and again, cant breed scorps to increase egg output.

Also depends on if you have a mod that gives you an item that collects the eggs for you. S+ Item collector is great for gathering the unfertilized eggs for you. With something like that, then I could see Ankys being your main medium egg layer. But if you collect eggs by hand, then scorpions are waaaaay better. Those annoying anky tails getting in the way when trying to collect the eggs, Scorpions conveniently drop their eggs right behind them and the tail isn't in the way....
But yeah, everyone always has ankys, because there isn't really any choice for metal collectors. If I am wanting to seriously ramp up egg production for kibble though, I go with scorpions. Very common spawn in the right biomes, and you can tame a male and 5 females in far less time than raising a single anky baby. And the scorpions take up half the space of an anky. It is really all just personal preference though.
