It's either Icthy-gull or Dimorph. Icthy-gull are the beach player's nightmare as they only steal your food and also make you drop your weapons. Dimorphs are the small flying creatures that attacks player (even on mounts) but are not really aggressive unless provoked.

When dealing with small flying dinos, your best bet is to get a bow and just kinda walk backwards until it starts flying in straight path, that's your chance to shoot it (or better, bola it).

You can also stand against a wall so it can't come behind you. When it dive bombs you, kill with a pike or spear.

For bugs or small birds, pike or spear while walking backwards is one decent strategy. Careful attacking (even for taming) small dimorphodons, as others in the area will join the fight. These add-ons have a big aggro radius.

also IF you do provoke a dimorphodon be aware that their hitbox is really awkward and because of how fast they move once aggitated makes them a nightmare to hit...but taming a dimorphodon is a great idea because of how good they are....especially once you tame a flock of them
