ARK: Survival Evolved

Server Menu Lag (1 FPS)
Decided to take another crack at the ol' Ark: Survival Evolved seeing as I haven't played since it was in early access.

I install the game, boot it up.
>sofarsogood

I open the server/session list/menu, and holy mother of God, the FPS absolutely TANKED. I couldn't barely select a server, let alone join. Dunno what the problem is. Verifying the integrity of the game ATM, though I shouldn't really have to since it's a fresh install. Already re-installed it once, as well.

Specs:
GTX 1070 8GB VRAM
16 GB Ram
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8700K CPu @ 3.70 GHz
Windows 10 OS.

Any help would be appreciated.

There is a steam setting to get rid of high ping servers.

I suggest just using Steam favorites instead.

It's nothing to do with the servers, the lag is happening in the menu where you select a server.

Limiting the ping, shortens the server list. Do you really want to see high ping servers you would never willingly join? It takes a while to load the list.

Oh right, my bad.

You were right. I set the ping limit to 250 and the FPS no longer tanks itself when I open the server list. Much appreciated.

In case anyone else has this problem, just go to Steam>Settings>In-game then near the bottom you can limit the ping for the server browser. Default is 5000, so. If for some reason you don't want to do that, I found out that if you wait REALLY long for it to show all the servers then it'll return to normal. But if you go out of the server list and back in, be prepared to but up with that waiting time again.

Edit: I also verified the integrity of the game cache and it said 2 files were missing and were retrieved. I dunno what purpose this served, but I didn't think of it since it was a fresh install.

first, cancer for using ingame server search. it's shet and slow. use battlemetrics or one of the bigger google results for "ark servers".
if it's one of your played servers, go steam > view > game servers > history
