But yeah, they are fairly annoying.
NPCReplacements=(FromClassName="Ichthyornis_Character_BP_C",ToClassName="")
The line above will completely disable those annoying birds in the spawners. I've also done this for the Leeds on my server as well.
Note: You'll have to do cheat destroywilddinos. Once you wipe the dinos on the server the change will take effect.
But yeah, just put that code in to get rid of them.
Sure, you can theoretically retrieve your stuff when it gets dropped...if you can find it before the despawn timer kicks in, and while that's rarely a problem for me right NOW, anyone who's got early or maybe even mid game gear then pretty much anyone not an FPS pro could well struggle to hit the tiny hitbox of said seagull (and to make matters worse I've been informed said hitbox is poorly placed)...which means they're both fending off the seagull AND trying to find their gear, gear that'll quickly go poof to a mechanic that's prettty clearly in place for meta reasons more than core game balance reasons.
To make matters worse, this mechanic is NOT behaving as intended; seagulls are only SUPPOSED to steal your fish.
"get good", you say? Get lost, I say. There is a time and place for git gud and this isn't that time.
And who decided that ? You ? Why would you be competent to decree which is an intended behavior and which is not ? As far as I'm concerned, I decree that's it's an intended behavior. 😉
Ichthyornis is an invaluable shoulder pet with its ability to make Prime Meat and Prime fish meat available from very common creatures (dodos, lystros, coelacanths...). It makes unplanned taming in the wilderness so much easier. I use it very often.
Ichthy's make great early shoulder pets, especialy for helping out with early tames, such as Baryonyx, by providing prime fish meat.
Use one to collect golden fish while mounted on a frog in the water. As the Ichthy brings back the golden fish, stab it with the frogs tongue, then send it out to get another. You can get loads of prime fish this way, in a very short time, and its fun!
It would be a nice addition to the game mechanics, if having one on your shoulder, (or any shoulder mounted pet) also made you immune to being attacked by other Ichthy's however.
Nice tip, thank you !
BLESS
I would just spam a tamed one if it's so useful. I have lost so much good **** from these pricks
