To be safe, prepare. When you think you've got the gear, keep going, because it doesn't hurt to bring extra, but it does hurt, alot, to bring just less than enough.
Best method would be to pump stamina and hp into the rock drake instead of melee since it needs to tank mostly while you shoot from its back.
The worst thing that works against you is the time. With that weak of a pumpgun it will take a bunch of shots to even kill the tentacles.
Also a few sets of armor are must haves since the floating balls will damage and destroy your armor fast.
The amount of reaper kings will murder your low hop spinos within a few minutes. 4k health is not even close to enough. I used a group of 5 high level reapers to distract the other reapers and nameless while running jumping with the rock drake and shooting from its back.
Maybe instead of going straight to Alpha, try gamma first to get an idea and how to manage the rock drake and shooting strategy. Theres a big jump in reaper king spawns on Alpha that will simply destroy your other creatures.
Being fast and having lots of stam and hp is key.
4704.3 base, meaning unleveled, and unimprinted. And I like all my spinos 100% imprinted because I have 800+ spino eggs. And spinos at this level give a ton of xp so that's what I'll use the extra eggs for. And I forgot to mention I have 66.2 spino saddles, making them a little more durable.
I know that I can't just send in the spinos to "beat up Rockwell," and that I have to take out the tentacles first, I'm not an idiot. I just meant have the spinos sit by rockwell and wait for me to take out the tentacles. But if having some good reapers are better than that I'll go ahead and tame some.
The shotgun is probably not enough to take out tentacles I'm sure, but I've farmed the surface for a long time and I haven't got any good shotguns, I might head to Ragnarok and farm lava golem if he drops any.
The reason I say use a charge lantern is because it scares nameless away, but I can easily change it to featherlights.
I'm playing in a SP server, so there is no time limit to boss fights.
And as for armor I keep getting armor pieces straight up instead of BPs because the surface doesn't like me very much.
Thanks for the info, this definitely helped.
Rockwell is actually the easiest boss and easiest ascension ever. Nothing compared to the ascension on the island.
Good luck
