is that SSD your only storage drive?
If it is, you should think about getting another to go with it or a sata 3 HDD. Always make sure to keep a min. of 10% of your drive's storage capacity free and clear. Never fill up a drive.

I take it by you saying that "Windows Crashes" you're meaning the whole computer reboots. An overheating GPU (ARK does tend to heat them up really good) can and will not only crash your game but reboot your computer as well. So can an overheating CPU and PSU.

Your CPU Cooler, stock isn't always good. Grab yourself a Hyper 212 Evo. It's the most budget friendly and is worth more than what you pay for it. It will seriously help keep your CPU cooler. Between the GPU and CPU, that's a lot of heat being produced in your machine.
If your PSU is at the bottom of your case, make sure the top face is facing down to the vents in the bottom. Having it facing up pushes too much heat at your GPU. If it's at the top, make sure you have a good fan at the back blowing the air out.

haha tanks alot il check these things, btw i have 2 ssd's and the 500gb where ark is installed is completly free, ark is the only thing running un it currently. and i think overheating is indeed the problem but we'll see, im gonna boot op ark in a couple hours and download a programm to check the temps. thanks alot! and enjoy your appelflap
(edit:) i think id rather spend some more for a be quite cpu cooler, i like my pc quite as it is haha

im on a cluster server and it crashed on ragno and the island too, the new map works completely fine for me :D i really like it btw

What kind of windows crash are we talking about (bluescreen, simple shutdown etc) ?
And what type of crash is the game having ?

Both those things would help narrow down the issues at hand, atm its more like a guessing game.

Hey I've been getting non-stop crashes since this last update. I've had 5 of them in 30 minutes making the game unplayable. Never had this issue prior to this update.
I'm on windows 8 and was playing on a non-official PvE Island server.

CPU: AMD FX-8150
GPU: AMD Radeon R9 200
I'm using a 1TB HDD for my games, and a 120GB SSD as my primary drive.

Edit: I was actually on the Island map since I transfered my char there a couble days ago.

For the OP, I suggest taking a can of compressed air to all of your fans and internal bits. you likely know that these can accumulate dust and need to be cleaned off to prevent overheating.

I would suggest that you verify your game files. you can do this by:
1. right clicking Ark in your steam Library
2. Choose Properties
3. Click the Local Files tab
4. Click Verify Integrity of Game Files.
This will always produce 2 files that need to be downloaded(don't ask me why, its always been this way), unless you have others that are corrupt. This is the standard fix that you will very commonly see when you google "Ark crashes"

Since the last crash the game became unrecognised by Steam.
Steam doesn't think the game is installed so that isn't possible.

There are reports that the latest nVidia GPU drivers are still at fault. The only stable one that can run ARK without a double crash (game freezes and after killing the not responding game, a likely BSOD or straight-up reset) is currently 399.24, which is the last one before introducing their RTX-lineup to their driverbase.

They did something to try resolving the issue on GPU drivers released on November 8, but even the latest one released several days ago still causes a crash and this has been noted on their driver's Release Notes, too.

So, revert to 399.24 and I can almost 100% guarantee ARK's stability.

I'm having the same problem but it's "Unreal Engine is exiting due to D3D device being lost Error 0x887a0006"Hung"" This error report only came up once. Normally it locks my computer up tight so I have to log off to fix it. lately several times it locked the computer so tight I had to do a hot reboot. I hate pushing that button. Played flawlessly until the last update. May have to stop playing for awhile until Epic (if it's their bug) gets off their ass and fixes this.

Check where you installed ARK and just do the install again, pointing it to that directory tree. It will start locating the files automatically for you. Then you can do the check.
