Do animals die off of old age?
I'm just wondering if I don't get new ones for a long time, if my tamed animals will eventually die of old age. I haven't seen it happen yet, but would like to know, if eventualky I have to replace them with new ones. I really don't care about some for more than the eggs they lay.

No. I had a dodo for over 10,000 days in a singleplayer Island save, changed his name to Gramps at one point. Keeping him safe became a sort of fun side thing, he lived in a massively protected deluxe enclosure. They don't age past reaching adulthood, but the slow accumulation of levels does more or less stop when they get to a certain point. Maybe with some type of realism mod?

Nope.
They will eventually starve if you don't feed them but no they will not randomly die of old age.

They don't die of old age, but they do reach a point where they mutter incessantly about those damn kids staying off of their lawn and start to tell you stories about people you've never met in places you've never been for no discernable reason, then stop halfway through and ask you what they were talking about. Eventually they reach a point where they need your help just to use the remote to find Fox News on the TV, and from there it's all downhill to adult diapers and kidney dialysis.

What were we talking about?

Thanks for the answers people. You confirmed what I thought happened.

They can't die of old age, but as members of this forum can attest to, they can certainly die of game bugs/crashes/imbalance. YMMV.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
