Normally only dinos that are outside the normal level range is special caves are marked as untameable, but it appears all three caves on Extincation are currently marked as untameable
also the stuff that spawns in the desert cave isnt higher level than the usual difficulty. besides the achantina everything spawns within range.
"i really dont wanna rebuild spawn systems again to fix a bad dev choice"
All three caves used to be all tameable, but the ice cave had dire wolf that were L300+ and tameable!
So the quickly marked all caves as untameable as a hot fix.
No idea if this is the end solution, or they are going to correctly change it so those dinos in the normal level range are tameable again
I wouldn't view it as the "Bigger Issue" Cause tbh while having high lvl wolves is good, they are hardly useful in the map, especially since they have no armor/saddle at all, so I think that they just made a bigger problem to cover the smaller problem, cause now there's other dino's that are untameable, or are harder to find, which brings up another problem. For example, trying to find a Therizino, they're mostly in the Forest, and since we use S+ for easier building, we have a Tek Transmitter that can show us dino locations (While it's very useful, we still need to fly out, trap and tranq, and there's no guarentee that surrounding dino's won't be a threat, so it's still fair.)
Now, using this, we try to go find the highest level, and it's stuck in a wall! So we keep going down the list, and the next 1-2 are also in the wall, and finally we get to the 4th highest level Therizino on the map, and it's in, you guessed it, the Forest Cave. Now how are people supposed to get their dino's when they constantly spawn under the map, and the only other option to get a decently leveled dino is in a cave. They made a bigger problem, and are just piling it on top of the other bugs that are currently on the map.
but yes , we need some of the dinos ( mantis ) that spawn in the cave's to spawn also elsewhere .
