Extinction Obsidian

Hi guys, we started a new prvate server with some folks and I noticed 2 issues.

1. Dino spawns are very low but I saw this on the Ragnarok map we had and after a while it went to normal. I don't recall if i did anything for that. Should that happen normally?

2. Obsidian - Where the heck is it? I went around 3/3 of the map and i see a rock here or there. Is that normal? Is it my map? I also moved the slider in ASM and nothing seems to have happened? Are we bugged?

there's just not a lot of obsidian. its mostly on the dirt parts of the ramps and bridges. the dinos are weird but you can just turn up the spawn rate somewhere i think (dont know where but i've seen several people that just fixed their problems by turning it up or down.
