It's just takes the right settings and mods for YOU. It's not 1 size fits all.

I suggest checking out Phlinger Phoo's soloing the ark series on YT, at least his intro video going over settings. He plays vanilla.

One point is, there is a difference between "solo" and "single player."

"Solo" could mean playing by yourself in a MP environment, either on offiicial or unofficial servers. That could indeed be levels of pain.

"Single Player" means, playing by yourself on a private server or on your desktop. That can be loads of fun, depending on your interests. For example, I like seeing what I can build and taming dinos and exploring the world. I don't really need anyone else for that, so it's fun. If you want to do raids or something, obviously SP would not work for you.

plugging Phlinger a lot lately. He is an aquired taste. If solo play on single player, 3x rates. If solo play on official, try 6 man servers, and expect many hours to maintain. Solo is doable, tweaking gameplay on single player is what everyone usually does, the grind is real with vanilla settings. Changing Dino carry weight to 1.5 or 2 helps a lot as farming usually is a 2 man job. I do not know if Phlinger publishes any of the " Vanilla with Sprinkles " rates. mating, maturation and cuddle imprints are changed on his vanila series. I use to watch the guy. Don't anymore. Yes Official Solo is rough, very rough, try to find a group. Single Player, be preparred to adjust gameplay, like building 20 campfires to make charcoal to make some bulllets. Easier to play in a world that never quits instead of one that stops when you log off.
