Fishing in ARK

I honestly remember how much i hate fishing in this game because to get the best possible rewards you are just given so little time to even attempt it and if your too slow then it's gone.....does anyone else feel like maybe they should increase the amount of time you should have cause im not that fast

I just wish they would change the mechanic for it. Would like to see the ability to just throw it out and watch a bobber sink and press the button one time fast enough to pull it in..like WoW has it setup. Maybe fishing nets you can place on a raft and overtime they catch fish/loot.

Fishing nets is a great idea.

Deep sea fishing would make this game mechanic a lot more useful, use a stronger fishing rod that sinks it's bobber down and can catch Deep Sea Coal, Sea Scorpions and very rarely, Underwater Loot Crate loot. You should be able to upgrade the rod so that it takes less keys to press to reel in the catch, and of course give you more time to do so.

Hi, I'm trying to get some BP, but after 60 catches I got only meat and some resources.

I understood that rod quality, fish weight, type of bait and of fish just increase the final quality of the loot or the number of resources dropped, but they should not affect the % of the drop.
According to the loot table in the wiki (https://ark.gamepedia.com/Fishing_Rod) it seems that the chance to get a BP is quite high....
So, am I unlucky or there is something wrong in what I wrote???

Btw I'm mainly fishing salmons with leech blood / honey..

It'd be nice if there was an easier fishing method that mainly yielded normal resources like food, and a seperate method for getting BPs and other more valuable treasures using the current method.

I don't think it's hard...it's just annoying...but mostly I don't understand what is the % for getting a bp. I got nothing after 60 fishes caught and at this point I don't know if it worths trying again or not.
Or somebody please explain me the loot table in the wiki as probably I'm reading it wrong :'(

have you been using honey and have been trying to land the biggest?

have you been using honey and have been trying to land the biggest?

I used both honey and leech blood catching usually salmons from 1.0 to 1.5. But for me if I use sap on coleacant I should have bad quality item and loot but same chance of getting bp

sap get's you the smallest and only attreact coelatanth's, leech blood is better and will attact all 3 fish but honey will allow you to snag 2.2 fish but its really annoying how small and how damn fast you have to be with your reactions....or get extremely lucky that you get the same button several times in a row

there are certian places on the center and also on ragnarok that have higher levels of fish, there are little ponds of water in smaller caves that are great for high level fish on ragnarok, near viking bay.

depends on where you fish really and what fish are in the area. I use sap all the time and get some pretty good rewards from it. Extinction there is a nice fishing spot right near the center of the map. Picking that good fishing spot plays a key role, just like real life, just because you throw a line in the water with some bait on it, doesn't mean your gonna get a great fish.

Far as the question about pressing the keys, so far for me they have all been clustered around QWE, ASD, ZXC, haven't seen it use any other keys then them, and are fairly easy to tap before the timer runs out on the screen. Sense the letters always pop up just above your hot bar, after throwing in your line you just need to keep a eye on the hotbar and not the line itself.

I know all of this, what I would like to understand is the % of getting a bp... and according to wiki it is not linked to bait/weight/fish (just quality is linked to them).

the higher level fish you catch, eg: 2.7 or a 4.1, will give you the highest chances of getting a BP, everything after that is RnG !

jump into the water or area you want too fish in and kill everything that has a low rating, this will help with wasting time catching them all and getting nothing in return but crap.
