Parasaur detection issue?

When you first set parasaurs up to detect organic life, they emit like a yellow ping from their heads. After a few minutes I've noticed it turns off. I haven't been able to test it yet, but has anyone confirmed if the detection is still active when their heads aren't pinging?
I feel like it doesn't work and get scared lol, so I reset them every 10 mins or so.

They keep detecting as long as there in turret mode, regardless of any visual issues.

Would the Targeting range affect the detection range of the paras or not do you know?

That is actually an intresting question, i would think not as it represents agro range, and the detection already seems to go beyond the default targeting range (something i never use so its always on default for me). But i have not dont any in-depth testing either.
