Save World
Can anyone tell me where the command "saveworld" puts the backup, and what name it uses? I lost all structures from a mod glitch and am trying to recover it. Also, how do I actually recover the backup once I find it? Rename it to......?

Saveworld does not make a backup. It merely saves to the current worldave.

Backups are created every 2.5hrs.

Singleplayer saves are in

Steamapps/common/ark/shootergame/saved/savedArksLocal.

Close Ark 1st

Backup then Delete the (mapName).Ark file .... then scroll down to the newest date/timestamp.ark file and rename it to (MapName).Ark.

Ah, every 2.5 hours..... I only play an hour or so a day so that explains why I only found one from 2 days ago. Does saveworld sometimes fail to work though? I tried it after my first try at fixing my issue and found no new file with a timestamp matching the time I used saveworld. I checked the clock when I tried it so I would know what timestamp to look for.
Is there a way to change the interval from every 2.5 hours to, say, every 20 minutes?

unfortunately there is no way to change the autobackup interval.... You would have to just backup the worldsave yourself after logging out.

for future reference... if you log into your game and realize a mod has broke it... dont log out... use ALT F4 to hard kill it... when you do this it doesnt Save and you may have a better chance of recovering that file by reinstalling your mods.

That auto backup defnitely doesn't run every 2.5 hours. Maybe it's suppposed to , but it doesn't. My folder has 1 or 2 auto backups in it for each month. Some months have none at all and have long gaps between the backups.
Do your own manual backups. It's the safest way. ( Copy and paste the save folder regularly to another drive and seperate folders.)

I don't think saveworld is working either.... I just tried it again, and should have had a file for 6:21am today. The only files with that timestamp are localplayer.profilebak, the ragnorok_anticorruption.bak, and the ragnorok_newlaunch.bak. The only other .bak files are the two from a few days ago........

The savewold command simply saves your world in the regular file not a backup file.
It only really helps if you suffer from frequent crashes that prevent the game from saving your world.

Saveworld don't create .bak files like a previous poster said. It just saves the current world.
IE , it saves the main map file. It does not create backup files.

I use ASM to run the a solo dedicated LAN server instead of buggy single player mode.
