Backups are created every 2.5hrs.
Singleplayer saves are in
Steamapps/common/ark/shootergame/saved/savedArksLocal.
Close Ark 1st
Backup then Delete the (mapName).Ark file .... then scroll down to the newest date/timestamp.ark file and rename it to (MapName).Ark.
Is there a way to change the interval from every 2.5 hours to, say, every 20 minutes?
for future reference... if you log into your game and realize a mod has broke it... dont log out... use ALT F4 to hard kill it... when you do this it doesnt Save and you may have a better chance of recovering that file by reinstalling your mods.
Do your own manual backups. It's the safest way. ( Copy and paste the save folder regularly to another drive and seperate folders.)
It only really helps if you suffer from frequent crashes that prevent the game from saving your world.
IE , it saves the main map file. It does not create backup files.
