Extinction Underground

So i'm probably just being a moron, but i can't find a way to get out of the underground section of extinction on the top left-top middle portion of the map. i figure i can fly once i can get a tapejar saddle, but that's a decent ways off for me. i don't just want to die and respawn elsewhere because i have a few dinos i'd like to keep with me. again, i've probably overlooked an exit somewhere, surely their is one that you can walk/climb instead of just fly up?

theres a path that leads to the surface near the far west of the underworld world but its a long path
