How is your ark going?
"Some of you have formed strong bonds with others. You are connected not through blood, but shared experience. Mutual struggle. Lean on those people. Carry each other forward. That is your strength as a race. It's what will save you.

Even those of you who are alone are helped by others. Time and space are not hard limitations in such matters. They are more fluid concepts than you might imagine. More on that later. Or earlier. Sorry, it’s hard to remember. To the point: those who came before or after, they are all helping you. Even those in the same time but a different place. All of you are part of a shared equation, the answer of which will determine whether this is an end or a beginning."

Post here about how your ark life is currently progressing!
No matter how long you've played, how many hours you have, or how good you are, there will always be things you forget or never even thought about. There will always be tips and tricks that you don't know about. There will always be somewhere you can improve.
So talk about your projects, issues, or just general things going on and maybe learn something new from the community.
It doesn't matter if you're pvp or pve, official or unofficial, modded or unmodded, high rates or low rates, solo or mega-tribe, we're all here to have fun.
So here's a general thread to ask basic questions that don't deserve their own thread, talk about random ark stuff, or brag about your current base or dinos.

Amazing how many dinos become useful when you aren't playing offline in SP and just spawning stuff in because you don't want the hassle of grinding it.

Have learned so much about breeding, and am now getting the last of my Rexes bred to take on that nasty of nasties, the Broodmother. Will be an interesting experience as my only times fighting her were horribly overpowered dinos I spawned in and stuck horribly overpowered saddles on. Can't wait to die.

The importance of tiny Outposts in heavily traveled areas, spreading my efforts around the map and focusing on one thing only, making sure you have everything you need before beginning new builds and construction, knowing just what BPs and items you have at your base so you aren't overloaded with crap you don't need, the Grinder <3, the Industrial Furnace <3, and everything else that has eased the pain of me building a metal base.

Last but not least, three Frogs, the Swamp Cave, 2 gas masks, and an Argentavis with 2500 carryweight. I love that Cave.....
I remember a time when I used to spawn things in that would take seemingly forever to collect.
Then I tried not doing that for a bit and I was surprised to find that it was more fun to actually grind it.
I had expected the longer grinds to be boring, but there are lots of ways to make them entertaining too and it makes you appreciate the end result so much more.
You learn a hell of a lot more about each dino type too.
I just now found out how absurd phiomias are. I've never need loads of poop before because I always played alone and closed the server when I got off. Now that it's 24/7 I need lots more fertilizer, and the phiomia just drops that like no tomorrow when fed stimberries.

Anyway, a few things about the broodmother:
For any boss, you should bring a yutyrannus. The roar on that is an absoulte miracle.
And if you haven't fought a boss yet, which it doesn't sound like you (properly) have, the megapithicus is actually a lot easier than the broodmother, despite the level requirements.

I had to give up on the titano for a bit, so i worked on my Allo's pack for the Tek Cave ...
I think i might have to try and find a red color for Tek Rexes aswell ;)

I saw a very cool looking black, blue(maybe teal), and red tek rex a while ago.
Red lights are absolutely the best color lights you can get on these things.
At least until I find a better color.

That means you are correct, you do have to try for a red tek rex.

I know the yellow makes em look like gold, i had a mutation i had get rid of from that before.
But since i have mangenta lights and a albino body, im kinda looking for something like a red back and accents. Just to break up the white a bit during the day time.

These tek dinos just look so cool in general really.
I keep changing my favorite colors on them.
Or maybe it's because they keep changing what colors they can spawn as.
Who knows?

Ahh ok I can see the difference in the foundations now. Interesting pattern, I didn't even know you could make a 12-sided shape with the triangle foundations.
I like to build my home in little pieces instead of build the whole thing at once. As I need more space, I just add on a little room to the side or on the top or something.
Is that going to be where you store your dinos too though, because that seems a bit too big for one person to use properly. I can't imagine actually needing all that space unless you plan on it being a garage too.
All my dinos and breeding will be in the current enclosure... each spoke of that wheel will house dino's. (We use awesome tp's so access is only realy aesthetic.

I see, are you sure it's a good idea to be so close to the castle? Can't bats fly over from there?
Or is the perspective just making it seem closer to me than it is?

There are so many potentially cool things you can do with triangles, but all I ever use them for is to make my little octogonal towers and smooth edges :P

Well established on The Island singleplayer. After many hours of experimenting I finally have the perfect combo of settings and mods.

So far I've got a small and basic but perfectly workable wooden fort in the southern isles. But I've reached the limit of what I can do with it, to expand any further I need more metal and more square footage. So now I'm looking for somewhere new, to build a more permanent base. Have a Raptor and a Terrorbird so far, with Ghillie armour and an ascendant crossbow.

My obsession with squares and triangles began with sl1pg8r's "squircle" builds... and gained momentum with Shadiversity's Conan build using the same methods

AHhhhhh. Phiomia abuse. Absolutely love that, although I do keep expecting PETA reps to jump out from the trees and scream about Dinosaur abuse when I do it.

Just started using some of the S+ uniques though, so I don't have to giggle like an idiot while forcefeeding my Phiomia stims anymore. The Item Collector and other gadgets with that mod help to alleviate some of the more boring of my daily tasks, and also permit me to have a normal sleeping schedule rather than waking up everytime that stupid Rex wants to go for walkies.

I picked up 2 Yutys to breed, and have one good child so far. Going to make a 2nd, opposite sex, for the mate boost. Also considering a Daeodon for the healing, but not too sure how much better that will be when I lose out on the DPS from another Rex.

Will have to try Megapithicus first I think then since it's easier. Get used to controlling larger packs of dinos while opening a can of whupass on it. Going for 25k HP and the rest into Damage on them all. Is that a solid balance for stats?

I always get so jealous when I see people create things like that because I've yet to make any massive building that isn't at least a bit of an eye sore at parts.

Here's hoping my farms last through the night because of that one phiomia.
It was my first tame this go around, I got it at first because I thought they could get berries and the only other berry gatherer around at the time was a theri, but it turns out they can't.

I may be alone in this, but I actually prefer imprinting over the nanny. At least for special dinos (not the 12 extra unnamed guys used in boss fights)
It just feels better.
Maybe I'm the one being imprinted on.

The daeodon's usefullness depends on what you're using.
If you're going the cookie-cutter rexes + yuty route, the daeodon will burn through its food faster than you can say "that's fast"
If you're using an assortment of other dinos, I can normally keep it from runnint out of food in the fight. I would recommend going the tried and true rex method for your first few times though.
Unless you have buttloads of random kibbles, the daeodon will probably not be very helpful for a rex army.

Keep in mind that you can fall off the hole on the right side of the bridge in the megapithicus fight, it'll kill anything that falls in instantly (the boss can't fall in)
Just drag it over to you so the rexes don't try and walk off the edge or get pushed down the edge.

Oh boy. I captured a Paracera, I built a platform on top of the Paracera, and then I realized that the platform literally weighed ten tons and the Paracera couldn't move with it. Back to square one.

Mistakes were made.
