wtf tek dinos??

why are there tek dinos all over the map (sorry took a long break). Please tell me this is just for an event?

(Edit: So many people here have replied but still zero answers to my question. This post isn't about tek in the game. Or about it being a scifi game. It's about the lore behind robotic dinos wandering around the island in abundance. No explorer note says why and neither does the ascension content. In fact, it states they are clones, not robots... sooo I'm just confused. Can anyone answer my actual question?

Considering they where advertising Tek and Tek Dinos before the game even entered early access. Why are you surprised? It was always going to have this.

I'm really disappointed with the whole sci-fi tek thing. The game was majorly supposed to be about dinosaurs, right? And tribal survival. Sigh.

you being upset is your own fault for not reading or researching ark at all before buying because shayne.oneill is right, this was always stated to be a sci-fi game

putting your hands over your ears and going la-la-la isn't going to change facts, so either mod your game to disable all the sci-fi stuff or uninstall and move on =)

well tek dinos are really strong and take less damage over all with that metal plate and all

I have over 3k hours in the game. Obviously I've played my money's worth already. So stop with the "why'd you buy it?". I'm just asking what wildcard's reasoning behind wild tek dinos was? Was there a lore reason or was it just for a cool factor?

Realistically both. Since the lore makes it plain that the arks and everything on them are artificial environments with altered versions of things from the outside world, what we are a little over a week from learning is do Tek Dinos exist in the world of extinction? My guess for the moment is probably. But given that literally the very first thing you see ingame as a player is your character scratching his wrist where there is a decidedly not very primitive implant, wildcard went out of their way upfront to make it clear this game is not and would never be about “just dinos”

Many many people have come here making the same basic complaint as you op, the problem is your immersion was always based on your own flawed perception of what the game was basically about despite wildcard giving you huge obvious clues to the contrary from the word go. Now when people point out to you the flaw in that reasoning you are throwing a hissy fit and tossing out expletives at people at the drop of a hat. This does not create a favorable impression of your maturity level.

Lastly if you think Tek Dinos exist only to market the game to 12 year olds, let me ask have you seen any of those Transformer movies? Because my generation grew up watching that cartoon in the 80’s and playing with those toys and I can tell you for a fact that Dino bots were hugely popular and Tek Dinos are definately marketing to nostalgia for my generation, not just 12 year olds.

Most likely thay are in the game to hype people up for the Extinction DLC.

Tek has been everywhere in the game since day 1 it just never manfested itself in Dinos yet. I mean you wake up on a beach and the 1st thing you see is an "Alien" implant in your arm that lets your store vast amounts of items an learn alien Tek and there are Dinosaurs lol. You are on an alien super high Tek ARK so a few Tek dinos doesnt supprise me a bit esp after all the crazy wierd ♥♥♥♥ I saw in the Aberration map.

Is there actually a lore reason the tek Dino's started appearing on the old maps. I mean what next aberrant dinos, corrupt dinos. IMO the tek Dino's should be an event that ends with the release of extinction.

Its been sci-fi since day 1

Its pretty simple... dont like tek dinos... play singleplayer and remove them... problem solved....

Dont like gundams and lasers... play singleplayer and remove them... problem solved.

Ark is utterly customizable just so fussy bubs can get their primitive fix.

Or join a primitive server.

On official servers... what difference does it make since these dinos are going to populate official servers as tames from extinction?
