Wild Achatina paste in my own home - possible or no?
I finally finally FINALLY got an Argie who can carry wild dinos (oh my god, the Argies are so awesome!). I thought it would be good to collect a few Achatina to stock up on cementing paste. So - A) I rounded up a wild one and just fenced it in on my property and am just letting it roam and poop - question: will it starve? I have a trough - and 2) If I tame an Achatina, will it still poop paste for me? Already got a beaver and he was sort of useless. Okay, thanks all!

Wild dinos in pens disappear back to their spawns.

Is your base in the swamp or redwoods?

No, on the Southernmost beach (single player). "Wild dinos in pens disappear back to their spawns." Aww, really?? Oh well, it was fun getting it home and chasing it around while it pooped a little. LOL

By the way, Kitsune, you are always so awesome to answer my questions! XOXO

No, it will despawn long before it would spawn.
If you move a wild out of it's original spawn zone, they will try to return inside the bounds of that spawn zone. If you leave render distance, they will despawn. The game is coded to despawn wild dinos outside their original spawn zone that are not being visually rendered by an active player.

You can tame the Achatina by making a Sweet Veggie Cake in a cooking pot. Put it in your hotbar slot 0, approach the Achatina and press 0 when you see the text about taming appear above it. It only takes one cake regardless of level. It's a one shot instant tame. Then you can continually harvest CP from it's inventory. They only eat Cake after taming, each cake is 500 food.

You need sweet veggie cakes to feed tamed snails. And you get paste.

So a garden and bee hive first and sap taps.

Or a bear to farm honey.

Don't know if you play with mods, but s+ is great for picking up stuff for you.

I have S+ so I DO have a hive - but I have never seen sap! Sap Tap? Is that an engram? (I probably missed it ...)

Hrm, I DO have one base fairly close to the swamp - are you saying that if I place the achatina there that they will not despawn there? It would be a fairly easy process to move him ... her?? lol ... there (thanks to Argyle, my Argie! LOL)

If you build a wild snail pen in the swamp. With an s+ collector. You will get some paste.

Sap taps go on the redwood trees. There is an s+ version.

ahhh! Ok, thank you! (I have not seen redwoods yet - I'm an impossibly slow and terrible player! I bet I would drive a good player crazy watching me, hahaha!)

It's not just in the same biome. It has to be in the original spawn volume.
How big is a spawn volume you ask?
Well, The Island is 23 spawn volumes wide. This includes 2 "just ocean" volumes, one at each end.
This makes them about 3.6 GPS coordinates square. Not very big. Herbivore Island is about the size of a spawn volume. They have to be in their original volume or they despawn, not just in the swamp.

We did this with snakes in the swamp before they were tamable for eggs.
Vesuvius Oct 28, 2018 @ 6:15pm
If you do tame them... pump food and weight..... then at least you can worry less about starving.

Thanks Leslie! Yes, I did lose my wild Achatina somewhere, lol - I actually set up a pen in the swamps, but I think it was too far from where I originally found it. Oh well. I've been searching but can't find any others right now, but I'm sure I'll get one sometime! Thanks for all your help! It's such a complicated game (which accounts for why I'm so mesmerized by it!)

Thanks Vesuvius! (love your avatar!)

Snails are not a passive tame u have to ko them

And op beavers don’t give cp after taming the wild ones make dams that’s where u get paste
