Spawning "natural" supply drops
I already know of the codes to make a drop appear wherever you want, and various mods, but that isn't what I"m looking for.
I'm doing some testing for transfering a sea dino and would rather not try to compete for sea drops on the server I need to transfer to and from (always active players looting them) so I'm looking at surface drops in the water. Testing and confirming them on single player is very slow going waiting out the drops to appear on their own. Is there anything short of flying around looting the drops manually that I can do to speed up the drop distribution?

You can not force drops to drop, other then looting other drops that trigger another one to spawn.
So if people are activly looting drops on the server you want to transfer from, the wait time should not be that long for a drop to appear in the location your waiting at.

yeah not up to that phase yet, as I said I"m still testing. I need to know where my best spots are before starting this process, because if I upload the dinos I am then commited, can't waste time trying to find a suitable drop, I need ot know where to go to and which ones ot make spawn. Taking a long time in single player to get the drops at possible locations so that I can find out if they can be used or not

In SP you can just spawn them in where you want them to be, you already know the codes as you stated, should not be to hard to do ;)

again that's not the point, this is research in single player for use on official, it MUST be EXACTLY where it would be on official. All of the manual commands I've found on the wiki spawn a drop wherever I want it, that doesn't mean it's gonna be wehre it's supposed to be. Where the drop winds up is critical to weather my animal is gonna spawn landlocked, in the air and die, or be able to be reached in the firstplace to upload it.

You want to transfer ocean dinos, but from land supply drops?

since I can't use a transmitter it's my only choice. Some "land" drops are in the water on the beaches at the edges of the map, rarer few are deep enough to be used for large sea dino transfer. I have to know with absolute certainty what ones I can use before I commit to the 24 hour transfer timer to move my animals

Good luck with your experiment, it will probably take a while to conduct.

Do you have a map with exact supply drop locations?
Raiden_Sola Aug 27, 2018 @ 11:47am
map, yes. exact, not really
The wiki sadly is wrong about many spots, displaying them as being in the water but they're actually on land (most notorious is a spot on ragnarock depicting the drop in the middle of a large in-land cove, but it's solid dry land). So I'm having to visit those spots and wait out the drops to confirm if they are or aren't correct. It's driving me bonkers.

You might have better luck trying the devKit. I haven't messed with maps or map extensions, but the info might be available there.

Ok i think i misunderstood where your transfering to .... my bad.
Isnt the upload time something like 24h on officials ? Sounds like you have plenty of time to waste to find an wait out a drop when transfering.

On SP just spawn in bird and loot drops in the area, that should speed up the drops instead of waiting them out.

researching the ragnarok map right now, that has about the same number of drops down at a time, but 4 times the land space to cover. I got a wyvern spawned in for me and it's slow going. And once you've tried transfering a sea dino and can't find the right drop, or get to one in time, you'll find how quickly that time vanishes. I need to be prepared before starting

Maybe you should first determine how far for water the beacon can be.

Use foundations to make a measuring tape. Spawn in beacon to each foundation (aberration are fastest..No waiting for them to descend). Determine the distance from water the beacon can be.

Then go back and figure out if this distance is safe to spawn them back into the world.

Once you have a measured distance....Then fly around and look for possible beacons.

The only other option i can think of, is reloading the map, maybe even use the DoRestartLevel command on SP ?

Never used the restart command, so im not sure if that works, but reloading the map (exit to main menu and then back to the map) should reshuffle the drops but both would be random.
