Swamp Cave
So... this cave feels really OP. Had not gone in there until this evening, but found out that it is possibly the greatest place to get quick levels on a Frog. Just the initial encounter area, not far in from the entrance, my little Froggy gained 14 levels from eating all the Meganeura (level 350+ ffs). It felt severely imbalanced to say the least. Not to mention the 9k+ paste and similar Chitin I harvested (2x rates). That included bypassing the leech portion because my pike was broken, my armor was shot, and my frog was almost dead. Did get the Artifact though.

How long does it take to respawn this amount of creatures? Those Meganeura swarms were insane, but a couple licks and they were smoked. Going to tame a couple more frogs to take in with me, as they seem to really thrive in there. The extra paste comes in handy too.

Are any of the other caves OP in this manner for certain dinos? I know the Lower South Cave and Central Cave were places I farmed Chitin at frequently in SP, but now that I'm playing on a server, trying to get all the Artifacts myself atm and wondering if I should bring a specific dino to other places.

The two ice caves you cant bring anything in but shoulder pets... unless you manage to raise babies inside.

Frog would also be good in the lava cave since it has fine movement controls.

The respawn time in the swamp cave is rather quick, after a full clear the entrance was already respawning for me.

The Snow Cave if you intend to solo it, you really want to breed either theri's, bears or allo's inside it. Personally i like the theri's because when riden the purlovia ignore you (direwolf aswell), i would advice a good supply of cakes though cause the yeti's hurt a lot. On official PvE breeding inside it might be a bit tricky (or even impossible not sure), on unofficial's with cave building on just build a small metal base in the first portion of the cave and you should be golden. Rexes could be possible but will have issues going true the entire cave, and you would need to rebreed for the second half (acording to the wiki anyways, never really bothered myself), thus not a very ideal solution in my opinion.

Bring bred basils for the water cave, its no brainer since there imune to electo's and cnidaria

Yeah. I got wrecked running the Water Cave. Have the server settings at 1.3x dino count and there were an enormous amount of spawns inside that cave. The ocean itself feels bare and rather empty, but the cave was absolutely crammed full of creatures. Not counting all the random insanity, there were even 20 trilobites sitting in a corner under the water.

Have to doublecheck the server settings for Caves, but will probably do the breeding trick. I've already cleared the NW Cave, which was a bit of a joke as the bat/spider AI is horrible in those cramped spaces. Working through them one by one as I get the time.

Male megaloceros are a good option you wouldnt normally consider for any cave where bats are proving difficult. Their antlers shred them.

I find for swamp cave 3 frogs(2 on closest follow) will rule the place and leave you yawning.(7-10min run)(4chests)

lava cave...death in unavoidable, a bit of lag or delay while crossing lava and its game over. so a saber and no gear cept for a crossbow, some hooks and water and you are good 90% of the time.(5minute run)(2-3chests)

hard water cave... 1 max lvl bred basilo with good health and as much melee as you can put in+mastercraft saddle and you can plow the place and laugh as 30 sharks swarm you till you cant move and you just know....they don't stand a chance.i go in there at 100% health, i usually come out with the place cleared at 50-70% health less than 10 minutes later.(1-2chest)

snow cave....hmm im still trying to figure out how to solo that one. My next experiemnt will involve a max lvl bred thyla , i figure the high sta and crazy high jumps might help me just avoid/ignore most and the bats should be an easy fight.

In Phlinger Phoo's soloing the ark series on YT, there are some 'for science' cave episodes. I dont remember the results, but you should check out the videos.

I do either water cave with a Giant Squid. Very usefull. Very potent. Just bait them away so you can direct your attacks from range and shred them to pieces.
