Item durability options
I think that the durability thing is just annoying. After some time you use an item you have to repair it with HALF of it's cost! I think that it is OK for stone tools and early game gear, as they obviously can't last much and they are cheap to repair, but what about TEK armor durability? It is a true joke. To break TEK structures you need explosives or a titanosaur. And it doesn't even use element. The armor uses a LOT of element and even a compy bite can damage it? Seriously? Also, once broken, you need to go FIGHT BOSSES to repair your armor. It's crazy. Someone can think it's fair and cool, but I, and probably a lot of people, think durability is one of the most annoying things in mid-end game, because it's ridicolous to farm a lot to craft gear and then need to go farm again every time it breaks, so I strongly suggest to add the OPTION to disable or lower durability usage of items, like a thing in the game.ini to do it(even a mod to do it would be great). I think it would make the game more fun for a lot of people. What do you guys think about it?

There are mods for this.

I know there are mods, but they seem to be outdated, with bugs for some items like crossbows, and limited to vanilla(and primitive versions of items), as they create copies of vanilla items and make them unbreakable, instead of making durability totally removed for all the items. I don't even know if such a thing is even possible though, and I think it shouldn't be easy at all, but you never know.

There is always upgrade station mod.

I have long had a related view but kind of in reverse. I looked at all things you could use element for and needed element for, including durability repair, then looked at the time and resource investment required to beat bosses to obtain the element and decided the risk/ reward ratio was out of whack. Too much risk for too little element. Tbh the vast majority of durability repair costs become inconsquential once you reach endgame because the acquisition of most mats becomes extremely cheap in terms of time to acquire. Element is the notable exception.

Yeah, but mod items are still an issue, and I honestly don't like the upgrade station mod. It is cool, but just not for me, as I prefer to spend time searching in supply crates. I would install it if it resolves issues with ALL items, but mod and crossbows are still a problem.

I agree.

You want to use tek ♥♥♥♥? Better start playing on aberration where you can farm that element without boss fights.

3 element every 40 minutes. And you have to farm resources for it. Even bosses are better of that.

Tek Bench, it used to be one of the more ballanced tek mods out there, not sure if it still is havent used it in a long time.

The rest of the durable items are not that hard to fix in my opinion, resources come easy and i dont tend to run around taking dmg from stuff all the time either.

I consider this mechanic on Aberration the devs tacit admission that the element rewards for boss fights were too low. Imo the fundamental design mistake was making boss fights that gave one time Engram unlocks also be the only source initially for the those engrams endgame mat. This creates a situation where players are forced to farm fights that the devs need to make challenging because of the one time unlocks.

I think bosses aren't that' hard if you are prepared, but to get the artifacts every time isn't so fun.

Bingo. It isnt the fight itself but all the jumping through hoops to even get there. If you are doing a one time unlock that is fine but as something you need to farm regularly?

Fail.

And all the TEK structures are supposed to work by using element as FUEL... I also think the charge nodes aren't a big deal after all. The wrong thing is that for a single piece you need 1920 stones. Why? It's technology, why do you put tons random stone in it? And other EIGHT different types of materials, including 960 chitin, so if you want to craft 100 element you need 192000 stone and 96000 chitin, plus tons of other stuff. I know they are easy to get, but ~175000 stone and 75000 chitin to craft a teleporter don't seem to be much of a bargain. Think about harvesting and transporting these resources in SP, it should't be fun at all. Element is too expensive right now. And makes no sense to use stones and bug carapaces to build highly technological circuits/plates. It would have much more sense to infuse element ore into electronics and metal. Easy. No ♥♥♥♥ like stone, gems, gas, crystal, obsidian, insect parts... Just circuits, metal and element ore. I'd like to know how to modify recipe costs now XD. So sad I know nothing about modding stuff.

There are mods out there like tek helper that can unlock Tek Engrams and make element craftable. Based on the issue we are discussing, I put this mod into the loadout for my cluster back around New Years. Now I’m trying to figure a way to get it back out without getting lynched by the community because what I’ve discovered is it’s robbed us of any real reason to do the fights at all, and the fights can be a great community building activity. So I’m learning there’s a balancing act, and I’m just trying to find the spot that balances for us. As always, ymmv.
