Actual Peak Time Gamer Stats
Okay, there have been lots of arguments about who is playing what, when, game is dying, more officials than singles etc. etc
.
So between 17:00 - 17:15 UTC time today, I ran some stats using Steam numbers and Battlemetrics

Historically this is Peak gaming time (most players on) and on a Saturday.

46,154 connections playing any form of Ark per Steam.
28,508 players connected to any form of on line server per Battlemetrics
904 Official servers on line per Battlemetrics. Again, any type of official server.
8,746 players connected to those 904 official servers per Battlemetrics

Those are the stats. What does that tell us?
100 % - 46,154 Steam players divided up as follows:
62% - 28,507 in servers

38% - 17,646 in single plaer
19% - 8,746, are playing on official servers
43% - 19,762 in unofficial servers

the unofficial server group and the single player group are about equal with the smallest group playing on offical servers... less than 19%
At peak play time, the average player count per official server is 9.7 players.... a number exceeded by hundreds of unoffical servers.

So, now when you get into those heated arguments about which is most popular and which version Wildcard should pay attention to, you have some numbers.

More play SP than official servers. Thats great.

Got a official PvE vs PvP statistic?

Nope. Just used Battlemetrics to come up with total number of players players on any offical.
I'm not sure I'd trust sorting on "PVP" or "PVE" not all officials or unofficials put that in their titles.

However, it is safe to say that PVE far outweighs PVP as ALL the single player group are PVE by definition.

Everyone knew this allready.. why people say pvp is more popular, well simple fact that every yt video they have ever seen is official pvp thats what promotes the game not pve
I'd just like to point out, just because a player doesn't appear as active on battlemetrics doesn't mean they're in singleplayer.
I run a server for just myself and and some lan fun, and battlemetrics has never picked up on it.
Although it probably means they're not playing with very many people, it doesn't mean they're doing singleplayer.
(And of course, out of 46000, there's probably a few hundred that are just idle in the menu screen.)

I'm sorry, but someone running a lan with maybe a friend joining once in a while to dink around is PVE with some horseplay. PVP is where you can/will be attacked and adjust your play accordingly. My singole player game is set to PVP, but it's not really.

Wasn't arguing against it being pve.
You just said as a blanket statement that all the people not showing up on bm were on sp, I just wanted to point out that that's not completely true (and there's no way to know how many people are playing lan with buddies as opposed to sp)

Okay.... when I say "single player", you think "Singler Player and/or LAN". That way the rest can move along.
KitsuneShiro Oct 20, 2018 @ 1:00pm
I play solo LAN server and consider that to be single player. SP mode is still so buggy.

peak is when ever the chinese get on

I don't actually care about consoles cause thats basically just a cash grab. No access to the workshop and requires paying for a host just to get limited customization.

Are there any statistics on Xbox or ps4? Do those systems have anything like steam does with realtime player count?
